Me: So you see, "LabGrownNeet" is counter-signaling. Im demonstrating confidence that ppl sense Im actually a career-chad
Robin Hanson: You're not using "counter-signaling" correctly.
Me: Ah yes - Ive been meaning to correct you on this. Words actually mean what they sound like
Was traveling and got hit with "where are you from?? you're so pale!"
Buddy you can be anywhere in the world and stay indoors
A few years ago I was at an event to test drive questions for Askhole. And one the guys said his dick was girthier than a coke can. A fucking coke can. I lacked bravery so I just spent the rest of the night staring at this guy, not managing to ask him to see it
Mr president, they shut down the ricetam websites because of the RUSSIA HOAX. And the deep state hasnt let up. I have a list of your own people that are doing BIDEN's BIDDING
People ask "what supplements do you take?" like its nothing. You want me to recite a few dozen things from memory? They're not *that* effective
*You* live in a bubble.
"If AI is useful where is the new software?"
These people are clearly not on Tinder or Robinhood. The PMs are having a blast
The Americans was a TV show about Soviet agents in deep cover in the US. One of them woos an FBI secretary named Martha to trick her into leaking
Anyway, they have this great bit where she's a good partner. Like the agent instigated a fake quarrel out of expediance and she responds with impossible, Jesus-esque patience. Likewise when he disappears to go do spy things. Its also the same when the roles are reversed. Eg she lays out her feelings/desires proficiently
I like it so much because its subtle. They never have someone call out "wow Martha is such a great partner." They don't give her other positive traits! She doesnt have any funny lines. She's competent but otherwise not particularly well-liked at work.
This is all juxtaposed with the agent's much more normal relationship with his actual wife. Who he loves. And with his influence on Martha's life (ruin).
The value of ordering prepared foods on Prime Now is absurd. Its the same thing as Uber Eats but it's half off because it's sold by a grocery store
Discussing Marblehall Murders with my family
"Has anyone heard of the poison? Aconite?"
"It was a potion ingredient in Harry Potter. The one Snape berated them about in the first book."
"Why do you know that?"
"So there's this fanfic..."
"I wouldnt sleep without her if I thought itd harm her. Even if she assiduously consents and is frustrated w my refusal. Its not paternalism! Its selfish. I dont want to harm her!"
This is such sophist cope just admit you're abiding moral intuitions my god. Own your paternalism
Do any of you recommend any authentic relating or other tpot woo stuff? Like a book, etc. Something good for a skeptical rat. Also just feel free to recommend things in general. Im not allowed to work out for a bit and need a thing to strive at
Idk about Scott. I did! It did not engender any jewish ideas in me and it certainly didnt make me fond of the tribe
Probably more relevant...i went to religious school twice a week for years. Though like most childhood education, it had negligible content
