What does an ovary actually look like as it ages—one oocyte at a time? We mapped >85,000 oocytes in >100 intact mouse ovaries, in 3D, across the reproductive lifespan. And the ovary turned out to be much more organized than we expected. 🧵 1/5 nature.com/articles/s43587-0…

The ovary actively 'counts' its eggs, preparing the same proportion for ovulation, at different stages of life 📹 Arturo D’Angelo et al @LabBoke @CRGenomica in @NatureAging ➡️ bpod.org.uk/archive/2026/9/2…

🗺️ First 3D map of ovary throughout reproductive lifespan reveals it counts its own eggs A new study published in @NatureAging by @CRGenomica researchers challenges the idea that ovaries are simply passive egg reservoirs @LabBoke #BISTCommunity 👉 bist.eu/first-3d-map-of-ovar…

And I somehow ended up the only woman on the author list of a paper about ovaries. 😅 Very proud of this team and what we built together. 5/5

Keeping oocytes alive for decades is a massive challenge, but so is earning a PhD with the highest honors! 👏 Massive (belated!) congratulations to our PhD student, Dr. Devesh Bahety (@devbahety) for defending his thesis and receiving an excellent cum laude! 🥳🏆 @CRGenomica

Exactly my thoughts re the "unbiased" QED 1% list- this analysis puts it on firm footing. One thing not captured here is the prominence of well-established authors; that's what triggered me whether QED was really ranking the science OR signals assoc'd w/ scientific prominence- EB
I wanted to like QED's new 1% preprint ranking. But the more I looked at the data, the more uncomfortable it made me. Here is my full peer review: open.substack.com/pub/blekhm…

Our new paper is out in @ScienceMagazine! We developed mice with reversible control of autophagy, and showed that restoring this pathway after its suppression reverses neuronal abnormalities and brain dysfunction, demonstrating the resilience of neurons. science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…

AI in medicine is moving rapidly to take on much broader tasks than ever, some not fully envisioned. It's not proven in real medicine yet, but the results of the 2 new @Nature papers this week foreshadow where we may be headed. erictopol.substack.com/p/age…

Can someone start a journal called “Cell Atlases” so that the rest of the journals can go back to publishing interesting things?
