It's a wrap for the Danish Presidency of the #UNSC 🇩🇰🇺🇳 Today, we opened the curtains for the Danish wrap-up session, as a symbol of our Presidency, throughout which we sought to uphold transparency and shed light on the crises across the Council’s agenda.

#BalticWay 🇱🇻🇪🇪🇱🇹 – a human chain of 2 million people stretching from Tallinn, through Riga, to Vilnius. This non-violent protest on 23 August 1989 captured the world's attention as the three Baltic nations clearly expressed their will for freedom and independence, and declared that the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, signed exactly 50 years earlier, was a crime committed by totalitarian regimes. Hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, we remain united to this day through our actions, our thoughts, and our unwavering support for Ukraine. 📷 Photo: Collection of the Latvian National Museum of History / Popular Front Museum Department. The Baltic Way campaign in Riga on 23 August 1989. Participants on the Vidzeme Highway near Langstiņi. Holding the first flag from the right is Rūdolfs Brizga. A group of Baltic Germans is taking part. Photographer not specified.

For the fifth year, we mark the Day of Political Prisoners in Belarus. While some have been freed, 848 people remain unjustly imprisoned for speaking freely, defending human rights, and believing in a democratic future. Since 2020, nine political prisoners have died behind bars due to torture and inhuman conditions. Behind every political prisoner is a family waiting, hoping, and enduring unimaginable pain. We stand in solidarity with all those unjustly detained and call for their immediate and unconditional release and rehabilitation. Accountability, targeted sanctions, and sustained international pressure are urgently needed. They must not be forgotten.
