Vance: "I think Ukrainians should stop bombing Russian energy... I don't think that Ukraine should be in NATO." NO ONE WAS TOUCHING THEIR PRECIOUS ENERGY UNTIL THEY INVADED US! And maybe, just maybe, Russia should stop murdering Ukrainian civilians on a daily basis, JD? Maybe they shouldn't be murdering babies in their strollers in the park like they did today? Maybe they should stop an almost 5-year-long bombing campaign against Ukrainian infrastructure designed to plunge us into a humanitarian disaster and force us to surrender? How about that? Or, hear me out, maybe they should fuck off back across the border, and then no one will bomb them again?

Now that we're watching this horror in Wangaratta unfold, take time to think of the #hate that's still been directed @ Dan Andrews, who left politics yrs ago. Or Jacinta Allan, who's copped bucketloads. MSM, particularly Murdoch, have much to answer for.

Dear @AngusTaylorMP You say you're "deeply saddened" by the attack on Indi MP Helen Haines. A week ago, in the HoR QT, your Liberal MP Angie Bell called for the PM and Anne Aly to be "stoned in the square". A dangerous remark inciting violence. You're part of the problem. #auspol

Absolute savagery. Today Russia killed two girls aged 1 and 11, and four adults, three of them young women, in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region. The park was full of mothers walking with their kids on a sunny day. They know exactly who they are targeting.

The Pentagon is delaying the delivery of Patriot missiles to Ukraine—missiles that have already been paid for by allies, reports *The Kyiv Independent*. A shipment of missiles, fully funded by Ukraine’s allies (including through NATO mechanisms), is awaiting Hegseth’s signature; however, the Pentagon chief is deliberately blocking the process. The Ukrainian leadership views this decision as another form of political pressure from Washington.

While Australia stared at the crippled dead cat they just threw on the table, Labor and the Liberals were quietly passing legislation that should have been front-page news. The dead cat was Jordon Steele-John. I don’t know for sure who threw it there. But I know what happened in Parliament while everyone was looking. On Monday 12 October, Labor and the Coalition backed the Health Insurance Amendment (Incentive Payments and Other Measures) Bill 2026. Sounds harmless, doesn’t it? It creates a legal framework for more than $1.4 BILLION a year in government payments to healthcare providers, including corporate-owned businesses. But buried in that legislation are powers to let ministers decide payment rules, demand records, share personal information, investigate providers, recover money and authorise computers to make decisions, including decisions requiring judgement. Parliament’s own Human Rights Committee had already warned that these information powers could seriously interfere with Australians’ privacy and that the safeguards might not be good enough. They passed it anyway. Then came the Social Security and Other Legislation Amendment (Technical Changes No. 2) Bill 2026. More computer-made decisions. More use of income data to calculate family assistance and child support. New powers to change certain decisions already under review by the Administrative Review Tribunal. Some provisions improve review rights. Others expand automated administration. After Robodebt, you might reasonably expect Parliament to examine every one of those powers with a microscope. And then there was the Aged Care Legislation Amendment (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aged Care Commissioner and Other Measures) Bill 2026. This changes aged-care subsidies, accommodation deposits, means-testing arrangements and government debt recovery. It also establishes a limited pathway for reconsidering certain aged-care assessments. Not the unfettered right for qualified assessors to override an algorithm when it gets someone’s needs wrong. After months of pressure, the government finally agreed on Thursday to an independent review of its aged-care assessment system. Now consider what we’ve been uncovering at Enough Australia. Private equity buying up healthcare businesses. nib acquiring independent NDIS plan managers. Publicly funded services being consolidated into corporate groups. Governments increasingly relying on data, payment rules and automated administration. These laws do not hand Medicare or the NDIS to nib. But they help build the administrative and funding environment in which large corporate operators can do business. We, the public, pays for it. The government writes the rules. Private businesses can receive the money. And increasingly, computer systems help decide who qualifies, what gets paid and what happens when the records don’t agree. Labor and the Coalition did not agree on every amendment, particularly in aged care. But they supported key parts of this expanding administrative machinery. And who was sitting in Parliament on Monday warning about exactly this? Jordon Steele-John. On Tuesday, he supported an amendment seeking to abolish the controversial aged-care assessment tool. Labor voted it down. On Thursday, the government announced a review of that system. By Thursday afternoon, the headlines were about Jordon himself. The decade old allegations against him deserve a fair, independent investigation. So do the decisions being made about the rest of us. Because while everyone was staring at the dead cat, Parliament was deciding who controls the money, who controls the information and how much power human beings will have when the computers get it wrong. That’s the story we should be reading. Www.enoughaustralia.com

#deadgreyhoundsaus Kaelix Lass is now dead. In April she was "found to have severe bilateral pannus" (see post below). She was used for racing again twice in August, listed as retired earlier this month, now dead. How did she die? Rest in Peace 🤍 Born: 17 December 2023 Dead: October 2026 Victoria fasttrack.grv.org.au/Dog/Det… #bangreyhoundracing
In October at Warrnambool Victoria, the post-race vet exam found two and half year old "Kaelix Lass" had "moderate pannus in both eyes". In November, she suffered "injuries to the left long head triceps muscle and right and left hind gracilis muscles". Yesterday, after her race at Ballarat, the track vet reported she now has "severe bilateral pannus". Why was this not picked up before the race? How did she progress to SEVERE pannus without any track vets noticing before or after recent races? At one stage during the race she is very close to the railing, unclear if she makes contact, and then she slows up as she continues. She may not have been able to properly see the railings, the lure, the other dogs. This is negligent and abusive, putting this dog's life at risk. She is number 3 white in footage. GRV says about pannus: "Pannus is thought to be an auto-immune disease. This means the body actually starts to attack itself. The genetic predisposition to develop pannus is inherited – so it tends to affect certain breeds and certain families within these breeds more than others" and "The other factor thought to contribute to pannus is exposure to Ultra-Violet (UV) light.  This exposure to UV light is thought to trigger the start of the reaction, or to make the reaction worse, so it is important to keep affected dogs out of bright light, especially in the summer months when the UV level is high.  Even if exposure to UV light is not the cause of the disease, the rate of progression increases with exposure to high levels of UV light (from sun light, or reflected light from water)" So why was Kaelix Lass being used for racing in daylight hours, exposed to UV light, when it was known she has pannus? Why was she allowed to run at all when her vision was impaired? And this: "All corticosteroids (cortisones) are considered a ‘prohibited substance’ under the rules of racing (cortisones can also be used to mask pain), so the problem lies with keeping the dog’s eyes under control. For a greyhound to race, it has to be free of this drug at the time of racing. This means the greyhound has to stop medication at the right time prior to the race to make sure that the drug is completely out of its system on race day. The problem with this is that the dog is then at risk of a pannus flare-up or worsening of the condition – so it won’t be long before the greyhound will have to be retired from racing" greyhoundcare.grv.org.au/gre… "If not diagnosed and treated correctly, this disease can lead to blindness. Diligent treatment of the disease will preserve vision in the vast majority of dogs" vetmedbiosci.colostate.edu/v…. This is a sick industry #bangreyhoundracing Replay and report: fasttrack.grv.org.au/RaceFie…

Another Russian ballistic missile attack came in several waves overnight, and once again, there was no early warning from our partners. They again targeted energy facilities and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged. In total, the Russians launched 16 ballistic missiles in a deliberate attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Russians also launched more than 200 drones of various types, including jet-powered “shaheds,” with attacks spanning from the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions to the Volyn, Rivne, and Odesa regions. Sadly, there are casualties. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Those who were injured are receiving assistance. Overnight and this morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa, and Rivne regions. In this one night alone, more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, and the lights went out for at least 550,000 families. Repair crews are working at the sites. Ukraine never wanted this war, and we have welcomed literally EVERY attempt by our partners to bring this war to a dignified end. We have responded positively to EVERY ceasefire proposal. Russia's response, time and again, has been ballistic missiles, “shaheds,” and killings. Putin not only doesn't want to end this war – he doesn't even want to take any steps toward de-escalation. EVERY ONE of our partners has experienced this firsthand when they heard Russia's refusals. And it is crucial to call things what they are. To call the aggressor an aggressor and help Ukraine defend lives. When deliveries of missiles for Ukraine's air defense are blocked while Russia is granted relief or delays in sanctions, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality on the part of our partners. The reality is that the war continues, and it continues solely because of Russian strikes and Russia's desire to drag this war out. I thank everyone who recognizes this reality and helps Ukraine!
