Good Wednesday morning, welcome to October 14th...
On this date in 1947, U.S. Air Force Captain Chuck Yeager officially broke the sound barrier.
Yeager piloted the experimental Bell X-1 to Mach 1.06 (about 700 mph) at an altitude of 43,000 feet, making the first piloted supersonic flight.
The plane had been christened "Glamorous Glennis" in honor of Yeager's wife, and the flight took place in the Mojave Desert near the present-day Edwards Air Force Base.
Yeager actually flew the mission with two broken ribs he had sustained from a horse-riding accident a couple of days prior.
My mom passed out while walking the dog. She landed on her head and was taken to the hospital. She is having an MRI mid morning. Would appreciate some prayers for her. Thanks in advance.

“My hero, my dad.
He served war time in Vietnam and passed away 9/27/2026. He was a proud veteran who served as a radio man during the Vietnam War and suffered from the after effects of the deadly Agent Orange.
I will continue to honor his service and all those with him.”

Specialist Five Cecil Curtis McKinney
was nearing the end of his Vietnam tour when another medic needed emergency leave. He then volunteered to return to the field for a few days until a replacement arrived.
In the Army, he trained as a combat medic and earned his parachutist wings. He spoke of becoming a doctor one day.
Curtis served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade before serving with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. As his extended tour drew toward its end, he became a senior medic at the battalion aid station. Returning to the field also gave him a chance to say goodbye to the men he had served alongside.
On October 5, 1968, Curtis was helping with a medical evacuation during a hostile engagement in Thua Thien Province. The helicopter had landed at an angle on sloping ground. As he approached beneath its rotor blades, a blade struck him, killing him immediately. He was 22 years old, just nine days past his birthday.
His sister remembered the letters he sent home asking for Wild Turkey bourbon and chocolate chip cookies, always reassuring the family that he was all right. She also remembered a family outing during his leave, when they were together, laughing and enjoying his time home.
Curtis rests in Fairview Cemetery in Midland. His name appears on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 41W, Line 14. Fifty-eight years after his death, we remember the young man who hoped to become a doctor and the medic who volunteered when another soldier needed to go home. Say His Name to Remember.

Since I can’t seem to get @X to get rid of the fake @paultguitarist4 profile, it makes me wonder why I’m even paying for the verification? What’s the point?
Going to take the night and decide if I’m even going to stick around here at all anymore. Beyond frustrated.
What the hell is up with Michigan? How in the world is this anti American socialist El Sayed even being considered for public office?
Do you remember when you joined X? I do! #MyXAnniversary

@SarahHuckabee
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, I am sitting at Arkansas Children’s Hospital with my 2-year-old son, Turner, and I can literally see the State Capitol from his hospital window. We will be here until Sunday at the earliest, and possibly longer if things do not go the way we hope. His doctors are telling us that even when Turner is stable enough to leave the hospital, he needs significant support to keep him safe at home. That support is available through Arkansas’s CES Waiver, but Turner cannot access it because he is sitting on the waiting list.
I have tried countless times to set up a meeting with you and have been turned down every time. So this time, I am asking you to come to us. Please come visit Turner and me at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Come see for yourself how sick he is. Let me tell you what it is like to have a 2-year-old with a rare, progressive neurodegenerative disease and severe epilepsy, and what it is like to be told that your child needs more support to safely live at home while also being told that the state support meant for children like him is unavailable because of a waiting list.
Let me tell you what this is doing to our family too. I am missing work right now because my child is hospitalized. I miss work for appointments, hospital stays, seizures, therapies, illnesses, and all of the things that come with raising a medically complex child. I am exactly where I need to be, beside my son, but families cannot keep being expected to absorb lost income while also being denied the very supports that could help keep their children safe at home.
Governor Sanders, I am not asking you to read another report about the CES Waiver waitlist. I am asking you to come meet one of the children sitting on it. Turner is an Arkansas child, and he needs help now, not years from now. Please come see him, sit with us for a few minutes, and let me tell you what his doctors are saying he needs when he goes home. I want you to see for yourself what this waiting list actually looks like for a family living it.

Hey, Houston, help my veteran buddy out and show up to have lunch with him, no one has been showing up. Please don’t let this veteran eat alone. I’d be there if I were in town. 🙏🏼🇺🇸

I know it's been almost 50 years but Hanoi Jane did more harm to the morale of young men fighting for this Country and their life than most of you will know.
I've never watched a movie she's been in and when I'd see her with Ted Turner at Braves games I'd change the channel.
If you didn't live or serve during the Vietnam War Era you'll never understand!
No, I never miss! I'm an expert at hitting the lips!
