Over the past month, MNR’s Stewardship Youth Rangers have helped strengthen our watershed by building trails, installing erosion-control plots, conducting forest inventories, & maintaining trails at Durham Regional Forest. Thank you for your hard work & commitment!
Over the coming week, Durham Regional Forest users may notice some gate repair work at the Main, Timbers, Roseville and Norton Tracts. Please follow any onsite signage, stay out of work zones. Thanks for your patience as we complete this important maintenance.
📸 A great photo can capture more than a beautiful view—it can tell a story and remind us why these places are worth protecting.
Today, we’re celebrating the beauty of the Lake Simcoe watershed. What’s your favourite photo from the watershed?

More roots, less runoff. With recent rain, many properties are seeing standing water. Living roots help soil absorb water and reduce runoff. Farmers use cover crops; others can plant or naturalize. Soil Conservation Week is the perfect time to reach out at [email protected]
As the weather warms, it’s tempting to tidy the garden, but wait. Pollinators like bees and butterflies are still resting. Clearing too early can harm them. Hold off until temps are consistently above 10°C (50°F). A little patience helps your garden thrive. #LetThemBee
