Gina Hinojosa spent months calling Greg Abbott a coward for refusing to debate her. Yesterday morning she set up two podiums outside the Governor’s Mansion and left one empty for him. He didn’t show. Jenn Mack, a write-in candidate for governor, did. Mack stepped up to the empty podium and told Hinojosa she came to debate both of them on their records. Hinojosa told her the stage was reserved for Abbott, then had her removed. Mack was walked off the stage by an officer. So the candidate who says refusing to debate is disqualifying refused to debate the one challenger who actually showed up. Abbott ducks Hinojosa. Hinojosa ducks anyone who isn’t Abbott. Both of them want a two-person race because a real debate is a risk to both of them. Texans have more than two choices for governor. Pat Dixon, the Libertarian nominee, is on your ballot and ready to debate. Governor Abbott, Representative Hinojosa: the challenge is open. Pat will bring his own podium.

In 2020, Greg Abbott decided who got to stay in business. Guess who won. Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowe's never had to close. They sold paint, clothes, tools, and home goods all spring. The hardware store, boutique, and furniture shop down the street sold the same things and were shut. Barbershops and salons stayed closed while the big box parking lots were full. Even Abbott's own Republican House Speaker called it out, saying the big retailers that never had to shut down were holding back the small businesses that did. Then came the bars. On June 26, 2020, Abbott closed every business that made more than 51% of its sales from alcohol. Restaurants pouring drinks stayed open. The state then let some bars reopen by reclassifying as restaurants: count food truck sales as yours, sell packaged snacks, bundle concert tickets in with the food. More than 800 bars got back in that way. Others couldn't make the paperwork work and stayed dark, and 75 had their liquor licenses suspended. Same virus. Same customers. Different rules depending on how big you were and how well you could game a state formula. That's not public health. That's the government picking winners and losers.

Americans should be able to buy prescription drugs from Canada. Trump should have no unilateral legal power to stop them. If elected, I will move to overturn this Trump decree.
My @nypost oped: Trump is banning millions of Americans from buying low-cost prescription drugs from Canada. All I want is the freedom to buy the drugs I need without getting blindsided by Uncle Sam.

It's time to end Trump's war of choice with Iran. American troops have died. High gas prices are hurting all Americans. U. S. intervention in the Middle East has been a disaster for decades. It's time for our military to leave. We should, though, retain diplomatic, trade, and cultural relations with these countries.

We can't allow this to happen in the U. S. Freedom to use cash is freedom from having every transaction known and analyzed by the government. I reject digital ID, digital currency, and government control over our financial lives. They can't be trusted in any way, shape, or form!
It’s clear that the Mexican ruling class and their friends in the banking industry are determined to bring about the end of cash payments in Mexico. Whether or not the Mexican people will simply abide by the new laws, or find ways to skirt the regulations, remains to be seen. One country which might offer some insight into how the reduction of cash might unfold is India. Like Mexico, India has historically been known for predominantly dealing in cash payments. In 2016, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was launched under the oversight of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as the main method for conducting digital payments. As of 2026, billions of Indians use the UPI for payments, but the transition was not instant. One of the ways in which the Indian government hastened the transition to digital was by eliminating the use of certain cash notes. On November 8, 2016, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the existing 500 and 1,000 banknotes would cease to be legal tender at midnight. At the time, those two denominations accounted for nearly 90% of the currency in circulation. This led to severe cash shortages and a sharp increase in the use of digital payments. While Mexico has not currently announced similar measures, it does appear that Sheinbaum’s government and her banking allies are using India as an example of how to transition a society with a large informal economy based in cash towards a formalized digital economy that can be tracked and traced. tlavagabond.substack.com/p/t…

We hope a lot of Central Texas voters will come to Austin on Wednesday to meet our great statewide Libertarian candidates.
You can meet me and other Libertarian candidates and learn about the Libertarian Party at an event coming up on Wednesday at Scholz Garden in downtown Austin near the State Capitol. The program will be excellent, and the German food is very tasty!

Last fall, the FBI sent police agencies nationwide a bulletin urging officers to adequately identify themselves. Why? Criminals posing as ICE were robbing and kidnapping people. In New York, restaurant staff surrendered to robbers simply because the men claimed to be ICE. Members of Congress pushed DHS for months. The answer was a brief note insisting agents identify themselves professionally. Masks, plain clothes, no visible badge. If the public can’t tell an agent from a kidnapper, the agency is the problem. Abolish ICE.

"While third-party hopefuls appreciate his support, their goals are different. Ted Brown, the Libertarian candidate in Texas, said he’s running to win, not to cost Republicans Senate control. “I’m running to defeat the corrupt two-party system,” Brown told Semafor. “But I would say this, if the Republicans lose the Senate on November 3: The good news is, the Republicans lost control of the Senate. The bad news is, the Democrats won control of the Senate.” semafor.com/article/10/14/20…

Your regular reminder again that the U.S. military has killed over 200 people without evidence or trial (raising questions as to whether some were innnocent), with some victims dying horrible deaths after clinging to wreckage for hours, and it has had ZERO impact on drug flow.

Ken Paxton loves to tell you he was cleared. Here’s what he leaves out. In 2023, the Republican-controlled Texas House voted 121 to 23 to impeach him. Not Democrats. His own party, by a landslide. The charges centered on using the attorney general’s office to do favors for Nate Paul, a donor under federal investigation. House managers said Paul hired the woman Paxton was having an affair with and paid for renovations on Paxton’s home. Who blew the whistle? Paxton’s own senior aides. They reported their boss to the FBI. Four of them were fired. The Texas Senate acquitted him. The votes to convict fell short of the 21 needed. His wife sat in that chamber. Now here’s the part he never mentions. Those fired aides kept suing. And instead of fighting the allegations he calls a sham, Paxton stopped contesting the facts. The same facts his lawyers battled in the impeachment trial. Because he stopped fighting, the Texas Supreme Court ruled he never had to sit for a deposition under oath. A judge found his office broke the Texas Whistleblower Act. Paxton dropped his appeal. You, the Texas taxpayer, got the $6.6 million bill. Read that again. A man who swears he did nothing wrong chose to surrender rather than answer questions under oath. And he made you pay for it. That isn’t exoneration. That’s a man who didn’t want to find out what he’d have to say under oath. Now he wants a seat in the United States Senate.

Washington took in $5.4 trillion last year. It spent $7.4 trillion. That’s a $2 trillion deficit in one year. Interest on the debt alone cost $1.14 trillion, more than the entire defense budget and more than Medicare. About 21 cents of every dollar Washington collects now goes to interest. James Talarico wants to add a stack of permanent new federal programs on top of that. He hasn’t put a price tag on any of them. Outside of ending wars in the Middle East, he hasn’t proposed cutting anything. His answer is taxing the rich. He wants to repeal the 2025 tax cuts for the top 1%. Even left-leaning analysts put those cuts at about $1 trillion over ten years, roughly $100 billion a year. That’s about 5% of this year’s deficit, or about one month of interest payments. And he’s already promised that money to a new “cost-of-living tax cut,” so it doesn’t touch the deficit at all. There is no money for this. Every new program gets paid for with more borrowing, and more borrowing means more interest. You can’t fix affordability by running up a bill your kids will be paying interest on for the rest of their lives.
