On this day, October 19th, 1781, the Siege of Yorktown concluded with the British surrender under General Cornwallis, marking a decisive turning point that effectively ensured American independence. The victory was achieved through coordinated American and French efforts and demonstrated the success of determined resistance against a powerful empire. It paved the way for the formal end of the Revolutionary War.
The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania celebrates this victory for liberty and advocates for peace over modern conflicts that lack the clear defensive purpose of the Revolution. We believe the founders’ struggle was justified by genuine resistance to tyranny, unlike many later interventions. Let's honor their achievement by rejecting unnecessary wars.

On this day, October 17th, 1973, OPEC imposed an oil embargo on nations supporting Israel during the Yom Kippur War, causing severe economic disruption, fuel shortages, and inflation in the United States. The embargo exposed American vulnerability to foreign energy decisions and the consequences of foreign policy alignments. It led to long-term shifts in energy policy and economic thinking.
The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania critiques the foreign policy fallout and advocates for genuine independence from foreign interests. The relationship with Israel has produced real monetary consequences and resulted in deaths of US Service members in wars that are not in our interest. We must reduce exposure to this geopolitical leverage.

I was lucky enough to see Rebecca speak at the LPNC. Her story moved me to tears. Minnesota couldn't have a better option for Senate. #LibertyGangsters
My name is Rebecca Whiting. I am a Christian, a wife, and a mom to a large family. We live in Bemidji, Minnesota on a farm we have built from the ground up. I am a homeschooling mom, and a small business owner. I have been involved with farmers markets and the community for most of my adult life.
I am also an Army combat veteran who saw two tours to Iraq as a medic in 2004- 05, then again in 2006-07. I was in Ramadi during the battle for Fallujah, and then in Baghdad during the Surge with 2ID, 2BCT. My experience in Iraq was one of heartache, grief, futility, and trauma. As a medic I saw the worst and came home to a system more broken than I was.
I’ve watched as my fellow soldiers were killed in a war we never should have fought. I’ve watched as my fellow soldiers committed suicide at a rate greater than the casualties we inflicted during the Iraq war. I’ve watched as my fellow soldiers (including my husband) have started to get new cancers and diseases from burn pit exposure. And I’ve watched as we tried to navigate the failed VA system that ended up hurting vets instead of helping them. I couldn’t watch anymore. Now is not the time to be complacent, and this is not the legacy I want to leave my children.
I love my family, and I love my country. I sacrificed for this country, and its people, because of my love. It’s that same love that drives me now. The political oligarchy has failed us, and I can’t sit back and watch anymore.
I am running for the U.S. Senate. It’s time to send those who would enslave us to the failed system that they created to maintain their political monopoly a message.
The people are free. And we are going to take our future back.

On this day, October 16th, 1962, President John F. Kennedy was informed of the presence of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba, initiating the most dangerous phase of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The information forced urgent deliberations among American leaders about how to respond without triggering nuclear war. The crisis tested the capacity of leaders to manage extreme tension under the shadow of mutual destruction.
The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania notes the crisis tension and advocates for diplomatic solutions over military confrontation. We believe careful negotiation and restraint are preferable to actions that risk global catastrophe. Let's learn from this near-disaster and avoid recreating similar high-stakes confrontations.

The PA-01 race is an embarrassment for both parties and the communities they will serve. It's akin to a slap fight between two spineless men. The country is watching. Write-in Jamie Frost Remmey for Congress ✌️💛🦔
On this day, October 14th, 1962, the Cuban Missile Crisis began when U.S. reconnaissance aircraft photographed Soviet nuclear missiles being installed in Cuba. The discovery brought the United States and the Soviet Union to the brink of nuclear war over a period of thirteen days. The standoff demonstrated the extreme dangers of superpower confrontation in the nuclear age.
The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania highlights these Cold War risks and advocates for de-escalation and diplomacy rather than brinkmanship. We believe avoiding existential confrontations protects both liberty and survival. Let's prioritize careful diplomacy over policies that risk catastrophic escalation.
On this day, October 13th, 1792, the cornerstone of the U.S. Executive Mansion, later known as the White House, was laid in Washington, D.C. The building was designed to house the president and symbolize the authority of the new federal government. Its construction a seat of concentrated national power.
The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania critiques modern executive overreach that has far exceeded the limited role intended by the founders. We advocate for reducing the imperial presidency and restoring constitutional constraints. Let's resist the continuous expansion of executive authority.

I remember when ISIS publicly beheaded Americans.
It reenergized the war effort. Americans who were growing tired of the endless Middle Eastern wars were suddenly beating the war drums again.
I wonder what will happen when America publicly executes a Muslim.

🚨BREAKING🚨
ATF has finally issued guidance following GOA’s historic NFA victory.
The agency says it will no longer enforce federal registration and approval requirements for suppressors and short-barreled firearms for everyone, nationwide.
Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania retweeted
Following the historic end to the NFA’s unconstitutional federal registration scheme for untaxed firearms and suppressors, lawyers for FPC have sent letters to the AGs of 15 states that still tie the legality of the covered arms to compliance with the law. firearmspolicy.org/fpc-moves…
Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania retweeted
The effort follows FPC’s major victory in Silencer Shop/Jensen v. ATF, where the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas held that the federal government could no longer use Congress’s taxing power to sustain the NFA’s making, registration, and transfer requirements for firearms Congress made subject to a $0 tax. The court enjoined enforcement of the challenged provisions as to the plaintiffs and others covered by its judgment.

On this day, October 8th, 2001, President Bush established the Office of Homeland Security, later formalized as the Department of Homeland Security, expanding federal surveillance and domestic security powers in the wake of 9/11. This new bureaucracy consolidated numerous agencies and significantly increased the government’s capacity for monitoring and control. It marked a major growth of the security state under the banner of protection.
The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania critiques this security state growth and advocates for liberty over expansive surveillance and centralized control. We believe security measures that sacrifice fundamental rights ultimately undermine the free society they claim to protect. We must roll back post-9/11 expansions that have permanently enlarged government power.
