Stuffing environmentalism in a box and marking it "liberal" is an awful idea, in church and in politics. Care for creation should go hand in hand with fiercely orthodox, joyfully weird transcendental faith, and folk of all political stripes should be welcome in the coalition.

Tried to take the traditional first fire of the season photo, and it looks like we have Calcifer living in our stove.

Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder, that's relativist garbage. These covers by Vance Covax are objectively beautiful. That's not my opinion. I don't make the rules.

A French woman says that the rioters and looters broke into her building and threatened her with rape while she was holding her child in her arms. “That’s collateral damage” responds the feminist activist Bettina Zourli who holds a Master’s in gender studies and focuses her work on gender norms, motherhood, reproductive rights, and voluntary childlessness (“childfree”) She describes herself as “feminist, childfree and Antifa” Zourli also says that all the stores getting looted also constitute a case of collateral damage and that the revolution, which she supports, must be violent. She has lectured in gender studies, including at the University of Lille and Université Rennes.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: Loose retelling of the Passion narrative and Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Snow Queen,” plus a bit of Le Morte d’Arthur Prince Caspian: A riff on Hamlet, with a dose of Norse myth and medieval romance The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: The Odyssey and the imrams (medieval Irish tales about journeys across the sea in pursuit of wonders) The Horse and His Boy: a loving homage to The Arabian Nights The Silver Chair: a medieval quest narrative with nods to Sir Gawain & the Green Knight, The Faerie Queene and Tam Lin The Magician’s Nephew: Paradise Lost meets Edith Nesbit The Last Battle: Edmund Spenser (Mother Hubberd’s Tale) and The Book of Revelation
the chronicles of narnia don't get enough credit for being so different from each other. No two of them are written in the same genre. LWW: "conventional" hero's journey fantasy Prince Caspian: uncategorizable, no idea what he was going for here tbh Voyage of the Dawn Treader: CS Lewis' The Odyssey The Silver Chair: CS Lewis' Pilgrim's Progress Horse and His Boy: CS Lewis' Arabian Nights Magician's Nephew: multiverse scifi! The Last Battle: apocalypse fantasy very impressive, imo, to do this while returning you to a world and storytelling style that feels familiar from book to book

Too real.
Your universe has no meaning to them. They will not try to understand. They will make a fire with your 1st edition Charizard.

Assume there needs to be some sort of nerdlord anointing ceremony, presumably presided over by Henry Cavill.

On a serious note, we nerds need to be really careful to avoid looted cards, which will now flood the online market.

Mainstream news rooms across the radio finally having to admit "peaceful protests over cost of living and poor school resourcing have turned into widespread rioting". Imagine that stung.

Just watched a 2009 anime in which a rogue AI breaks out of its sandbox and causes carnage on a social network that is running most of the planet's digital infrastructure.

WAIT. France was hiding their educational resources in the Louis Vuitton store this entire time!
French rioters loot Louis Vuitton store located just 2 KM away from the Élysée.

Instinctively agree, but unsure how this plays out in practice.
Looked at from the point of view of scripture and Church history, what we are seeing is the natural punishment for apostasy. And that punishment will intensify until people stop deluding themselves that there is any solution, political or otherwise, short of a return to the faith

Either the "climate movement" needs to run fast in the opposite direction, or we need to allow the "movement" to march off into oblivion while sensible people can disown it and do the serious work of mitigating/adapting to climate change.

Surround yourself with people who see a flying car and say, "Awesome!" Not people who see a flying car and say, "It's not actually flying" or "I don't see the point." This post is not about cars :)

Cycling back through the QTs, some people have nominated some WILD choices. I'm sure I saw Braveheart in there somewhere.
This is subjective but … Name three PERFECT movies. No argument. No explanation. Just three flicks you think are perfect. Here's mine: Rashomon High Society The 5th Element

We're so British we saw a queue outside our FLG and joined it in case something interesting was happening. Turns out it's a Lorcana pre-release day so we grabbed a couple of boosters to open with our littlest.
