I want to welcome our new police Chief Ericka Shields. She was unanimously selected by the committee and Mayor Fischer accepted that top recommendation. I look forward to meeting her and working together to improve LMPD and the relationship they have with our citizens.

The Mayor, for the second year in a row, is underfunding libraries. I am working with a bipartisan group to restore this funding as Metro Council did last year. He is doing this prior to Metro Council finishing our work on the budget. Unnecessary.

I have proven that we can cut the budget without touching Libraries, LMPD, Fire or any other critical services. The Mayors claims about closing libraries are scare tactics.
Some @LFPL branches — including Highlands-Shelby Park Library — may close because of the state pension-driven budget crisis. Tell Council to say YES to the revenue plan. louisvilleky.gov/budgetFY192…
