Mayor Mamdani did not simply express a personal political opinion. He used the authority, symbolism, and credibility of the mayor’s office to issue what amounted to an official public address declaring that the democratically elected leader of the world’s only Jewish state is a ‘war criminal’ who is ‘not welcome in New York City.’ That is a profound misuse of the office entrusted to him by all New Yorkers. After acknowledging that New York City has no independent legal authority to execute the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant, the mayor nevertheless chose to transform that legal reality into a televised political spectacle. Respect for the separation of powers and the legal limits of public office is a bedrock of American democracy; those limits should not be treated as an inconvenience to be exploited for political theater. Perhaps most telling was what the mayor chose to leave out. His address made no mention of Hamas or the October 7 massacre of innocent civilians. Instead, he delivered a sweeping moral indictment of Israel while erasing the terrorist atrocities that ignited this war. Appeals to universal humanity and justice ring hollow when they exclude the victims whose suffering does not fit a preferred political narrative. This is no longer simply about Prime Minister Netanyahu. It reflects a broader pattern in which Mayor Mamdani repeatedly singles out Israel while using the prestige of his office to legitimize rhetoric that further isolates the Jewish state and deepens division here at home. At a time when Jewish New Yorkers are experiencing alarming levels of antisemitism, harassment and intimidation, they deserve a mayor who refrains from fomenting hatred against the world’s only Jewish country while maintaining the fiction that this is not anti-Jewish. Throughout his campaign, Mayor Mamdani repeatedly insisted that his responsibility as mayor would be to focus on New York City and the issues affecting New Yorkers. New Yorkers elected him to make their neighborhoods safer, combat hate and unite a diverse city, not to conduct foreign policy or transform City Hall into a stage for ideological declarations about world leaders. New Yorkers elected a mayor, not a prosecutor of foreign leaders. Mayor Mamdani should spend less time trying to demonize only one leader and one country from City Hall and more time protecting the New Yorkers he was elected to serve. #Mamdani #MayorMamdani #Israel

Trash bins - nowhere to be found....how can this be mandated? If we can't find them, we can't shell out the $50 for them. @NYCMayor @NYCSanitation

This is their plan
The rent freeze --> maintenance halt --> NYC inspectors fail landlords -> NYC takes the properties for violations after punitive fines --> Auction properties to non-profits that are DSA fronts --> free cash flow for socialism.

Freezing the rent on already under market apartments will not make housing more affordable - it will just make it scarcer. Here is the @NYCMayor selling us (or gifting us) the Brooklyn Bridge
NYC's Rent Guidelines Board just froze rent on a million apartments, 7-1. The lone "no" vote? @NYUStern Professor and @ManhattanInst senior fellow @arpitrage, the economist on the board who lays out, in @CityJournal, exactly why this freeze backfires. ~30% of rent-stabilized households earn six figures. 57,000 stabilized units sit empty. ~10% of these buildings already lose money every month. A freeze doesn't make housing cheap. It makes it scarce, decrepit, and eventually the taxpayer's problem. It's the same cycle that bankrupted the nickel subway fare and hollowed out Mumbai's housing stock. The benefit is a lottery ticket for whoever holds the lease. Everyone else gets crowded into a market that's now breathing with one lung. Allow the private sector to build more housing. That's the only real fix. cityjournal.substack.com/p/t…

What does this have to do with dealing with the mentally ill homeless folks on the subway (which costs $3 per ride!) or improving schools or making housing affordable? Palestine is not on the ballot—ideologues are. Vote for people who reject identity politics and focus on NYC.
On Tuesday, Palestine is on the ballot in New York. Where do your candidates stand? Check your candidates’ positions on recognizing the genocide in Gaza, supporting the Not on Our Dime! Act, funding from the Israel lobby, and more: palestineontheballot.com

Isn't it time we put New York City on the ballot? How about the United States? The United States has sent thousands of innocent people to concentration camps in Africa and Latin America - but Palestine is what is on the ballot?

Square the words on their website with those on their Instagram post. All are welcome here except...
This is what happens when the Mayor stokes hate against a group for their beliefs. @NYCMayor and @bradlander—you launched a campaign based on dividing Jews and vilifying people who support the sole democracy in the Middle East—admittedly, one behaving badly, as is ours.

not serving a Jew is eerily reminiscent of Nazi Germany - i.e. the fascists @poeticacoffee does not want to serve #enoughwiththeantisemitism
Truly wild stuff from a local NYC coffee shop — the city has become a very broken place Can't help but also notice Dan Goldman's thoroughly dignified response Also wondering @TheLeoTerrell @HarmeetKDhillon if this legal

@NYCMayor why is it that I get a ticket for garbage in the street, but NYC doesn’t street sweep (for years!) nor ticket cars parked on my block parked for months. How exactly am I supposed to keep it clean?
