New #OA paper in @MEPS_IR📢
Assessing genetic differentiation for species with high gene flow can be challenging. We show that #relatedness can be a useful tool to detect isolation-by-distance & can help with #MPA design if carefully applied🧬🐟

#PopulationConnectivity can be hard to assess for species with high gene flow. We show that population- and kinship-based approaches can help detect #GeneticDifferentiation in the shanny Lipophrys pholis along the Northeast Atlantic coast. #MFC

Almost back from my 1st PhD fieldwork at Fregate Island, Seychelles 🇸🇨 We spent two weeks sampling ~1000 cryptobenthic fish in high and low seabird nutrient sites. Swell and late nights processing fish were more than compensated by a stellar team @JPMarBiol @gobysimon @naj_graham
I am very grateful for all the support I had from @fregateisland's conservation team - a fantastic group of people dedicated to keep the island rat-free and preserve its incredible wildlife
