♰ The Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena Italy ♰ In 1263, a German priest named Peter of Prague, who was struggling with doubts about the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, celebrated Mass at the Church of St. Christina in Bolsena, Italy. Upon speaking the words of consecration, the consecrated Host began to bleed, staining the priest’s hands and the corporal (the altar cloth). Shaken by the event, Peter interrupted the Mass and traveled to nearby Orvieto to report the miracle to Pope Urban IV. The Pope investigated the phenomenon, confirmed its miraculous nature, and had the blood-stained corporal enshrined in the Orvieto Cathedral, where it remains today. This event directly led Pope Urban IV to institute the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1264 and commission St. Thomas Aquinas to compose the liturgical prayers and hymns, such as Pange Lingua and Tantum Ergo, for the new solemnity
