Trump blamed Zelenskyy for the rise in diesel prices. In reality, Russian diesel accounts for less than 10% of the market, and the blame for the price hike lies with Trump’s senseless war in Iran.
However, another aspect is more interesting: Trump is not calling on Putin to end the war; instead, he is effectively pressuring Ukraine to surrender.
To be absolutely clear: the president of the country that signed the Budapest Memorandum—and effectively stripped Ukraine of its nuclear weapons—is now accusing Ukraine of daring not to surrender to the aggressor.

First of all, the right thing to do is demanding that Russia end its invasion, rather than asking Ukraine to stop defending itself.
Second, Russian diesel has been under sanctions for almost five years and is not sold in the U.S. The recent price spike is driven by the war in Iran.
Finally, Zelenskyy never agreed to stop strikes, nor can such an agreement happen without symmetrical de-escalation from Russia, whether through an energy ceasefire or a complete end to long-range strikes.
