If I’m the MAC, I’m threatening a lawsuit in this situation. There are major financial implications. If Western Michigan wins that game, it could directly give them momentum to go 12-0 and earn a CFP appearance payout. That’s the basis for damages. That threat could get the Big Ten to reverse the win. The MAC can’t/shouldn’t wait to make that threat until they find out if they still go 11-1 and make it in or not. The B1G won’t retroactively reverse the result in December w/o present outcry. Then it would actually need to go to court, which is much less clear-cut.

Rumeal Robinson probably wasn’t fouled in the 1989 title game. Ryan Leaf may have spiked the ball quick enough in the 1998 Rose Bowl. There may or may not have been :01 left vs. WMU. That’s 3X Michigan got benefit of the doubt in my life. I can think of 864 when they didn’t.
