OCC moved stablecoins from policy debate toward operating rules. On October 21, it finalized GENIUS Act rules for permitted and foreign payment-stablecoin issuers under its jurisdiction, covering reserve backing, redemption and risk management. The rule and Act take effect January 18, 2027. This does not make compliance automatic: BSA, AML and OFAC provisions remain for separate rulemaking. The advantage now shifts toward issuers and infrastructure providers that can turn controls into routine operations—custody, reporting and reliable redemption. Faster consensus changes the design space, not just the dashboard. Today, Solana is scheduled to activate Alpenglow on mainnet at Epoch 1064, expected around 13:20 UTC. The upgrade targets roughly 150ms finality, from about 12.8 seconds today. That changes how trading venues, payment flows and real-time applications can manage execution risk. But speed becomes durable utility only if validators, indexers and applications transition cleanly. Watch the migration—not just the latency claim. Strong AI demand can coexist with weak infrastructure returns. On October 20, South Korean AI cloud provider Elice fell roughly a third on its market debut after raising 201.1 billion won in its IPO. Much of the proceeds will fund modular data centres and related infrastructure. Our investment view: compute capacity is not a moat when financing costs and hardware replacement absorb the economics. Underwrite contracted cash flows, customer concentration and returns after replacement capex—not installed capacity alone. A lower share price does not automatically make expensive infrastructure cheap. Source: Reuters — October 20, 2026 #AIInfrastructure #DataCenters #CapitalMarkets

Public blockchains do not make bank money permissionless. On October 19, JPMorgan expanded JPM Coin to Ethereum for institutional clients, extending its deposit token beyond Base. The catalyst is bank deposits moving onto another public settlement network—not a retail token launch. Our investment view: banks can adopt public infrastructure while retaining control over customer access and the deposit relationship. Network adoption and value capture are separate questions. The opportunity may favor infrastructure connecting institutional cash, collateral and compliance. The test is recurring settlement demand and sustainable fee revenue—not the announcement alone. Model choice does not eliminate platform power. On October 17, Replit CEO Amjad Masad clarified that OpenAI is its preferred partner for Agent, citing performance, cost and partnership strength. Anthropic models remain available. Source: Masad’s clarification. Replit’s documentation shows where choice meets distribution: Free Mode uses automatic routing, while eligible paid users can manually select models in Power and Max modes. Our investment view: owning the workflow can create bargaining power without owning a frontier model. Platforms capable of moving demand between suppliers may capture value as models compete on price and performance. That leverage is not guaranteed. Switching must preserve reliability, and savings must survive retries, support costs and customer acquisition. The metric to watch is gross profit per successfully completed task—not benchmark rank alone. #AI #AIAgents #AIInfrastructure

Tokenized assets do not automatically create liquid markets. On October 15, Uniform Labs announced a Polychain-led seed round for Multiliquid, bringing total funding to $8M, with Circle Ventures among the participants. Its protocol enables atomic swaps between tokenized assets and stablecoins. Our thesis: the next RWA opportunity sits between holding an asset and accessing usable cash. Continuous conversion could reduce reliance on subscription and redemption windows—and make settlement infrastructure more valuable as issuance expands. The investment test is execution: liquidity depth, spreads, repeat institutional volume and resilience during redemptions. Instant settlement alone does not guarantee an executable exit. Security is becoming part of the AI deployment stack. Cohere signed an LOI to acquire AISLE, an AI cybersecurity startup whose systems found 500+ new bugs in its first year, including 12 OpenSSL vulnerabilities. The implication is larger than one acquisition: enterprise AI vendors increasingly need security capabilities embedded in the platform—not bolted on after deployment. For investors, defensibility may shift toward companies that control both the model layer and the trust layer. Source: Reuters, October 15, 2026

The next AI moat may sit inside a lab notebook, not a larger model. On October 13, Albert announced a $55M Series B led by TCV to expand its chemistry-native AI platform for enterprise R&D. Our thesis: specialized experimental data becomes defensible when software connects it to everyday scientific decisions. Better retrieval is useful; embedding into formulation, testing and compliance workflows could create lasting switching costs. The investment test is commercial: do customers renew, expand and bring products to market faster? A funding round validates investor interest—not durable returns. Tokenized stocks are moving beyond the hype. The real opportunity in RWA isn’t simply putting equities on a blockchain. It’s building the infrastructure that connects ownership rights, compliance, custody, settlement, and liquidity. A token that tracks a stock’s price is not necessarily the same as owning the underlying share. That distinction matters. As traditional finance moves on-chain, the winners may not be the platforms offering the most tokens, but those building the most trusted financial rails. The next phase of RWA will be defined by infrastructure, not narratives. #RWA #Tokenization #TradFi #Web3

Tokenizing an asset doesn’t create an investor. Franklin Templeton and Animoca Brands just announced a collaboration to expand institutional RWA access through NUVA, an onchain vault marketplace. But here’s the bigger story. The next RWA winners won’t necessarily be the platforms issuing the most tokens. They’ll be the builders solving what comes after issuance: → Investor access and compliance → Transparent risk and asset reporting → Portfolio integration → Reliable liquidity and redemptions From a VC perspective, this changes the metrics that matter. Tokenized asset counts are easy to celebrate. Repeat allocations, real investor demand, and dependable redemptions are much harder to build. Issuance is a milestone. Adoption is the business. #RWA #Tokenization #Web3

Crypto regulation is moving from enforcement to architecture. On Oct. 5, the CFTC opened a new rulemaking process for leveraged and margined retail crypto markets — including a potential federal registration category built specifically for crypto trading venues. This is not a final rule, and it does not federalize all spot crypto. But from a venture perspective, the direction matters. As market structure becomes clearer, more value shifts into the infrastructure required to operate inside that perimeter: regulated venues, custody, surveillance, customer protection, compliance and institutional connectivity. The next infrastructure winners may not be the teams building another trading front end. They may be the teams making regulated market access programmable, auditable and scalable. Regulation becomes infrastructure. #Web3 #Crypto #Infrastructure #Regulation #MarketStructure #LFGFund

Capital markets are starting to look more like software. OKXICE — the joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, parent of the NYSE — has moved to launch a 24/7 venue for tokenized U.S. equities under the SEC’s new Innovation Exemption. The bigger signal isn’t simply “stocks onchain.” It’s the migration of market structure itself: trading, settlement, liquidity, compliance and ownership infrastructure are beginning to converge on programmable rails. From a venture perspective, this shifts the opportunity downstream. The value won’t sit only in tokenizing the asset. It will sit in the builders creating the infrastructure that makes those assets liquid, compliant, interoperable and always-on. Market structure moves onchain. #Web3 #RWA #Tokenization #Infrastructure #CapitalMarkets #LFGFund

Web3 infrastructure is entering its unit economics era. For years, growth was often measured by TVL, incentives, transaction counts and short-term liquidity. But infrastructure eventually has to answer a much simpler question: Does anyone need it enough to pay for it? The next generation of Web3 infrastructure won’t win by subsidizing activity forever. It will need real users, recurring revenue, retention and a sustainable reason to exist. For investors, this changes what matters. We’re looking beyond launch metrics — toward teams that can turn infrastructure into durable businesses. Users. Revenue. Retention. Infrastructure must earn. #Web3 #Crypto #Infrastructure #VentureCapital #LFGFund

Tokenization is creating a new bottleneck: distribution. As funds, deposits, stablecoins and securities move onchain, liquidity is fragmenting across public and private networks. On Sep. 28, Chainlink launched CCIP 2.0, adding custom cross-chain verification, programmable compliance and configurable settlement. Chainlink named AWS, ANZ Bank, Fidelity International, Deutsche Börse Group’s Crypto Finance, Google Cloud, SBI Digital Markets, Sygnum and Taurus among launch partners and supporters. The VC takeaway isn’t “another bridge.” Interoperability is becoming institutional middleware. We’re watching the teams that let regulated assets move across networks without forcing institutions to rebuild security, compliance and operational controls chain by chain. The next moat may not sit on one chain. It may sit between them. #Web3 #Tokenization #RWA #Infrastructure #Interoperability #LFGFund

Tokenization was step one. Making those assets productive is step two. Tokenized equities are now live as collateral on Aave V4, allowing eligible users to borrow USDC against onchain representations of some of the world’s largest public companies. That shift matters. The opportunity is moving beyond simply putting traditional assets onchain. The next layer is credit, liquidity, risk infrastructure and composability built around those assets. From a venture perspective, that’s where things get interesting: Assets come onchain. Liquidity follows. Credit markets form around them. Tokenization is becoming financial infrastructure. Equities become collateral. #Web3 #RWA #Tokenization #DeFi #Infrastructure #LFGFund

Web3 finance is entering a different phase. On Sep. 24, three things happened at once: regulation moved closer to defining the rules, BlackRock-powered portfolio strategies came onchain through Ondo, and HIFI raised $37M to scale tokenized settlement infrastructure. For us, the signal is clear: Regulation is defining the perimeter. Products are becoming institutional-grade. Capital is moving into the rails underneath them. The next durable Web3 winners may not be the loudest tokens. They may be the teams making onchain finance usable, compliant, and interoperable at scale. The stack is maturing. #Web3 #RWA #Stablecoins #Tokenization #Infrastructure #LFGFund

Stablecoins are no longer just a crypto product. They’re becoming financial infrastructure. Binance’s $100M strategic investment in Circle — paired with a new five-year agreement to expand USDC access globally — is another signal of where the industry is heading. The next phase won’t be defined only by who issues a stablecoin. It will be defined by who builds the rails around it: distribution, settlement, liquidity, compliance and cross-border access. At LFG FUND, this is where we’re watching builders closely. Capital is moving to the rails. #Web3 #Stablecoins #USDC #Infrastructure #LFGFund
