#OctoberWorldbuilders 18 Most Nixtralians are paid in local currency. All realms run off a gold standard, so the exchange rate between realms is negligible. Almost all realms have banks, though some are bigger than others. Labor camps are also in some more authoritarian nations.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Good day friends! This week we're talking about the work and jobs in our fictional worlds~ Today's question is less about specific occupations and more about the logistics of work. How are they paid? Do they have contracts? Does your world have forced labor?
MonthlyWorldbuilders prompts daily feed card #OctoberWorldbuilders Hosted by Kira of the Wind Week 3: Work and Jobs 18: How are people paid in your world? Are they under contracts to work for a specified time? Do they have currency and banks? Is anyone forced to work? The background image display trees in a peaceful forest during autumn, with lots of yellows and oranges. It feels very much like October and has a serene vibe

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 18 One of the most horrific monsters in my works is Grimghast, a fierce ambush predator that serves as Kai’s foil & final opponent in The Faumen War Chronicles.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 17 Most Nixtralian realms form emergency services following the Faumen War. The war itself acts as a societal catalyst, pushing realms to progress at a rapid pace. Services such as firefighters, apothecaries, & ambulatory care are among the first to rise.

Good morning, #OctoberWorldbuilders! This week is about work and jobs in our fictional settings. What jobs do people have related to emergency services? Are there nurses and doctors? Firefighters? Anything specific to the dangers of your setting?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 17 Today's snippet comes from Darkness Beyond the Wall once again. In my most recent writing session, one of Lysander's maverick comrades finds himself being attacked by Dusklings while resting in what the protags assumed was a safe refuge.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 15 Nixtral remains a heavily agricultural world, even in the more modern eras when technology becomes more prominent. Farmers & ranchers remain the most common professions, though only a few are substantially wealthy due to the size of their landholdings.

Good morning, #OctoberWorldbuilders! This week is dedicated to the work and jobs done by people in your fictional world. Today's Q: What are some common jobs done by people in your setting? For instance, is it medieval with lots of farmers? A spaceship with engineers?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 15 There's actually a few tricks in The Lowborn King. In fact, most of the story involves Gino outsmarting the Senate through some rather clever tricks from him and his new partner-in-crime Lunwar. And a fair amount of stupidity from the Senate...

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 14 If mythical creatures are included in this, definitely harpies! I also have a soft spot for selkies, as seals are my favorite marine animal.

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 13 Veldandi's shares her mother's love of appleberry pie, which she gained helping her father roll & knead dough in the kitchen, all while sneaking a few berries for herself. It doesn't help that Kai had half his manor's grounds covered in berry bushes!

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 12 There’s lots of danger in my novels. In fact, my current project (a novella for BWA) is darker than anything else I’ve written. In my recent writing session, one of the MC’s comrades is attacked by a horde of monsters. It…doesn’t end well for him.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 11 Some realms have an escape room game called Labyrinthos. A team of 5 players must find clues & overcome challenges to locate a hidden key. When a player fails a challenge 3 times, they’re ‘out.’ The game ends when a team finds the key or are all out.

Good morning, #OctoberWorldbuilders! This is the opposite of yesterday's Q: Are any sports/games in your world cooperative? Is your MC or any other character on a team or have companions they train with?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 11 Kai’s would say: “Devoted husband, father, and healer” The funniest would be Gino’s: “Rose from rags to riches. Made sh*t work & still doesn’t know how he did it!”

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 9 Nixtral-based QOTD: Based on the 6 elements of Origin, which type of Conjurer would you most like to be? I, myself, would be a Marshwinder like Tyrhelm. Mixing plant & water magic would be pretty amazing and is one of the more versatile combos.

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 8 It’s a bit of an odd phobia, but Veldandi is actually terrified of thunder. While this makes it difficult for her to deal with Blitzers at times, it stems from an incident in her childhood where thunder from a nearby lightning strike damaged her ears.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 8 In Fateweaver, MC Zelora actually played varsity paddlepod at the University of Pittshelm. She was a top-tier midfielder & could have gone professional had she not suffered an injury due to a dirty play in the championship match her final year.

Hey there, #OctoberWorldbuilders! We're starting a new week, this one dedicated to sports and games within our fictional worlds! Do you have any characters who play a sport or game? Do they play professionally or just as a hobby?

#OctoberWorldbuilders 7 There’s a few ancient ruins scattered across the Barrens, mostly of long-gone civilizations predating Vekzis & Isendia, Ruquall’s longest-lasting realms. Some of these ruins are suspected to hold jewels, precious metals, & artifacts sacred to Orichalcum.
Kira of the Wind (Erika McCorkle)@Kiraofthewind1Oct 7

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 7 Most of my work tends to be MC POV-centric and 3rd person tense. The Faumen War Chronicles is a rare exception in that it use multiple POVs from both the protagonist & antagonist side.

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 6 In BWA, the villains are a trio known as the Dumeln Triumvirate: - Malchior, former military advisor to the Archduke of Lotono & creator of the Brume. - Olthazar, Lotono’s former Court Scientist. - Kassius, Lotono’s former Secretary of Justice. 1/2

The 3 worked on the Brume in secret, intending to use it as a chemical weapon in Lotono’s ongoing war against its neighbors. However, the Brume affected people differently & their demonstration went off the rails. The resulting spread of Brume ended in the Enshrouding.
