On Quinn Slobodian's latest for the @LAReviewofBooks and how we study the relationship between the Alt Right and American neoliberalism since the 1990s.

Some people asked for the syllabus, here is its last iteration.
I'll be teaching this course at BISR beginning November 18. We'll be reading Aimé Césaire, Ghassan Kanafani, Lorraine Hansberry and thinking about "the entry of the chorus, of the ex- slaves themselves, as the arbiters of their own fate" (C.L.R. James).

Harper is used to writing for @TheAtlantic, where all one needs is a deliberately and manipulatively worded "controversial" claim of some sort to produce an article. It's clear that Johnson's rebuttals are making his head spin, the poor thing.
Replying to @Tyler_A_Harper
It is in fact a load-bearing and impressively glib claim to throw out without any evidence. That you don’t find it controversial is simply because it reaffirms your priors

Losing baseball player. Only positive of the Yankees season ending is Jazz won’t be on the team anymore. Zero accountability ever.

We didn’t want to say it after the loss to the Packers. And “at least they looked competitive against the Lions.” But we’re back and better than ever: Same Ol’ Jets on this Moral Victory Monday. Discussed on the show this AM.

Stuart Hall et al in ”Policing the Crisis” (1978):
