Any attempt to draw a circle around which humans matter and which humans don’t is inherently immoral. Either we all matter or none of us do.

You don’t support subjecting women who suffer miscarriages to intrusive investigations, but you think that police can find probable cause by looking at a woman’s bank records and internet search history. How is the state getting that info without an intrusive investigation?
We do not support legislation that subjects women who suffer miscarriages to intrusive investigations. If you see a pro-life leader saying otherwise, they are lying to you.

Cornell won’t have to worry about rape accusations next year when no one wants to enroll in their school.

Some of the men at Cornell took advantage of Jane Doe in ways they should have known would end up hurting her even while not acting illegally. These dudes though, Chi Phi frat bros who wanted to snort cocaine out of a woman’s anus - I’m judging you for being real weird.

Lethal injection is cruel and unreliable. Bring back the firing squad and guillotine. They are quicker and more reliable. They are also gruesome, but it is already gruesome for the state to kill someone. At least it would be honest.
NEW, CHRISTA PIKE: Pike’s attorneys are detailing Tennessee’s “botched” attempt to execute her, and the allegations are🤯 In a new filing with the Sixth Circuit, Pike’s lawyers say the execution team struggled to find a vein for over two hours and used numerous different needles before administering pentobarbital. According to the filing: -Pike allegedly remained conscious and continued moving after the drug was administered. -The execution team then injected her with a second syringe of pentobarbital. She still did not die. -Her attorneys say the entire execution process lasted more than two hours as they filed emergency motions in multiple courts seeking to stop it. -The filing alleges that before the prison called an ambulance, attorneys for Tennessee argued TDOC had NO obligation to provide Pike with life-saving medical care. -Pike was ultimately transported to a hospital, where her attorneys said she remained alive when the notice was filed Oct. 1. The filing comes after the Sixth Circuit initially stayed Pike’s Sept. 30 execution so it could consider her legal arguments, only for the U.S. Supreme Court to vacate that stay hours later. And Pike’s federal case is not over: her attorneys told the appeals court that because she survived…she still has a “concrete stake” in the unresolved legal issues.

One particular part that bothers me about the Cornell lawsuit is she is suing her sorority for not preventing her from binge drinking while under their “care, custody, and control.” Bizarre that an adult can sue someone else for not stopping them from making their own choice.

This isn’t limited to women. Men and their families have also sued fraternities for not preventing themselves or their deceased child from drinking. The cases usually get dismissed. Because adults are responsible for their own choices.

For all those in my replies and quotes saying horrible things about women: stop. I hold both women and men to the same standards. We are all accountable for our own choices, we as adults all have agency. We can choose to make moral, immoral, legal, or illegal choices.

Men and women should treat all other adults like adults and assume they are capable of making their own choices, while also not being an asshole and taking advantage of others. That’s immoral, but usually not illegal.

Dealing with pregnancy loss is hard. Some people protect themselves emotionally by conceptualizing themselves as “only a little pregnant,” so when the loss comes, it doesn’t feel as real. The pregnancy was real though, and it ended, and it’s awful.
Pregnancy tests draw a misleading, somewhat arbitrary, binary between a state of being pregnant and not being pregnant. You can be kind of pregnant, a little bit pregnant, or almost pregnant, or maybe pregnant, and still test positive for pregnancy. Pregnancy tests, particularly at-home urine tests, capture a moment in time at which an embryo has implanted and is interfacing with the uterus in some way. “We define how we understand the beginning of pregnancy based on this snapshot, but such a freeze-frame contains limited information,” Apoorva Tadepalli writes. She will almost assuredly lose, the bio parents will get custody of baby Rumi. She refused to kill him, she should be applauded for that. But his parents are treating his heart condition now. It’s time she drops her bid for custody.

The parents tried to get a court order to force her to move from Alaska to California to give birth there. She moved to Texas and is seeking custody. They wanted an abortion but doesn’t appear they ever sued over that part. Everyone sucks here.

No court should award financial penalties because a surrogate refused to abort. Not all contracts are legally enforceable. Public policy should make this explicit when it comes to surrogacy contracts.
All the pro choice people are really going mask off on this case. Lots of "she signed a contract & should have been forced to abort" it's obviously not about bodily autonomy for many of them as they claim. They are just pro death.

If human rights come from our ability to exercise human reason, then newborns don’t have human rights as they don’t yet have the ability to reason. If it comes from our future capacity to reason, then you’ve just made a prolife argument: a fetus has the same future capacity too.

She was terrified of not being able to get the treatment she needed for miscarriage and then she got the treatment she needed and her doctors carefully rather than negligently explained the process to her, and this is held up as proof people can’t get treatment for miscarriage.
Spoke with a woman last night who recently had a miscarriage in Georgia. She was terrified of not being able to get the treatment she needed. Said her female doctor worded her treatment plan very carefully and she could tell everyone was on edge in the process. Personally, I think a woman would have to be crazy to have a pregnancy in a state like Georgia where our legislature’s ridiculous heartbeat bill is putting women’s lives in danger and making pregnancy high risk even for people who want kids.

Now when someone you love has a miscarriage, they get to wonder if you actually empathize with them or if what you really think is that they’re crazy for caring about losing a “half-ounce fetus with no consciousness or self-awareness.”
My favorite kind of abortion is the kind that's safe, legal, accessible, and none of your damn business to regulate. And no amount of fearmongering by describing what goes on to a half-ounce fetus with no consciousness, self-awareness, or feeling of pain is going to change that.

Georgia’s definition of abortion: intentionally ending a pregnancy with knowledge the child will die. Inducing labor before viability for medical emergency is a legal abortion. Other pro-life people: that’s not an abortion. Me: I think I’m going to lose my mind.

You may not consider this an abortion because the intent is not to kill the child. But that does not matter for the legal definition. This is still an abortion. A legal abortion, not an illegal one.
