What's notable but not written about is that nearly all of the DSA's serious primary campaigns are aimed at members of the House Progressive Caucus, not the more moderate House New Democrats. Support for M4A, Green New Deal, Abolish ICE is no protection.

TLDR on AB 736, the transfer tax reform bill in Sacramento:
1. The big move: AB 736 declares local transfer taxes a matter of statewide concern. That is the legal hook Sacramento would use to override charter city taxes like Measure ULA.
2. Starting 1/1/27, combined local transfer taxes would be capped at 1.5%.
3. Multifamily, commercial and industrial properties would generally get the benefit of that cap. There is no special exemption for new construction, as in prior proposals. The cap applies to non-SFR properties regardless of vintage. That helps builders, but it also helps long-term owners who have been trapped by punitive exit taxes.
4. Existing transfer taxes adopted as general taxes would get limited protection. This is specifically a way to let SF keep its existing transfer tax somewhat intact, though not all the way up to its current top rates.
5. Transfer taxes on single-family homes and condos sold for $5.4mm+ would not be capped. In other words, ULA survives for actual mansions, as voters presumably intended.
6. The first sale of a single-family home within 5 years after a qualifying disaster would be exempt from local transfer taxes.
***** This bill would provide relief on Jan 1 2027. Versus HJTA which would provide relief in two years ****

This is very sad. In over 30 years as a trauma psychologist, I’ve seen this exact posture in abused women and in people caught inside cultic systems. When they speak, they frame not checking in with their partner or the group’s gatekeepers as a kind of sin, as if having an independent thought requires repentance. They start treating ordinary acts of agency - talking to someone outside the circle or forming a judgment on their own - as betrayals that must be confessed.
This isn’t moral clarity; it’s fear wearing the mask of conscience. What you hear isn’t a free person speaking. It’s someone who obeys because losing the group frightens them more than losing themselves.
By speaking earlier this week at Tel Aviv University, I made a serious mistake.
In the past, when formulating my views about Israel-Palestine, I’ve sought out Palestinian friends and interlocutors and listened carefully to their views. In this case, I did not.
I really wanted to speak to Israelis. In the US, I’ve cultivated conversations with Jews with whom I strongly disagree, both to listen and in hopes of changing their minds. Over the horrifying last two years, I’ve hoped for more conversations with Israelis, to explain why I believe Israel has committed genocide in Gaza and why I believe Jewish supremacy is fundamentally wrong. My motivation for giving the talk wasn’t financial; I didn’t receive an honorarium. I wanted to say certain things to an Israeli audience. Speaking at Tel Aviv University seemed to offer that chance.
I let my desire for that conversation override my solidarity with Palestinians, who in the face of ethnic cleansing, apartheid and genocide have asked the world boycott Israeli institutions that are complicit in their oppression. As Noura Erakat and others have pointed out, there are ways for me to talk to Israelis without violating BDS guidelines and undermining a collective effort against oppression. I could have had the exchange I desired while respecting a non-violent movement based on human rights and international law. Had I listened more to Palestinians, I would have realized that earlier.
It’s embarrassing to admit such a serious mistake. I dearly wish I had not made this one, which has caused particular harm because international pressure is crucial to ensuring Palestinian freedom. This was a failure of judgment. I am sorry.

In a world-first, U.S. researchers have teleported a quantum state of light across 30 kilometers of standard internet fiber while normal web traffic flowed through the same cables.
This marks the first time quantum teleportation has succeeded over a live, public-style network. The team synchronized quantum photons with regular data signals, keeping their fragile quantum properties intact throughout the journey.
The result? Proof that quantum communication can coexist with today’s internet no massive infrastructure overhaul needed.
The implications are staggering: ultra-secure, unhackable communication, powered by the laws of physics. The dream of a global quantum internet is no longer science fiction it’s happening now.

Vibe coding is crazy man.
Met a 12yr old making $600k a month with his vibe-coded SaaS he started 4 months ago.
I asked how he built so fast. He said he just made a design-doc in GPT and fed it to Cursor with Sonnet-4 and it worked first try.
His goal is to get to $2M a month this year.
Running everything under his Moms Stripe account.
His firebase got hacked and sensitive user information got leaked. Got arrested and being tried as an adult but the SaaS is still printing though.
None of this happened btw.

Spoke with a C-suite executive this weekend (40+ years of experience) at one of the top LTL firms that told me believes that the market was recovering from a freight recession and then a broader economic recession hit earlier this year.
He now believes that it could be 2027 before there is any real recovery in the freight market due to softness in the broader economy.

I find it crazy that Claude gives you an exact 'formula' for success.
And even crazier that all the other LLM's pretty much repeat this formula when asked.
Maybe there is something to it?

Din Tai Fung makes $27m per restaurant in America, the top average unit volume (AUV) in the industry:
▫️Mastro's Steakhouse ($14.5m)
▫️Cheesecake Factory ($12.4m)
▫️Nobu ($10.1m)
▫️Chick-fil-A ($9.3m)
▫️Benihana ($6.5m)
▫️McD ($3.9m)
To make soup dumplings, new chefs train 6 months going through thousands of xiao long baos (aka "little basket buns"). Each dumpling is weighed to 5 grams and has 18 folds.
“To generate unit volumes of [Din Tai Fung’s] magnitude, a restaurant generally has to do three things: It has to be big, customers have to spend a decent amount, and it has to be busy,” explains Restaurant Business. “Din Tai Fung checks all three of those boxes.”
When I go to Din Tai Fung, I check two boxes: 1) destroy a basket of 10 dumplings in 3 minutes; and 2) get that glorious dip sauce (1 part soy sauce, 3 parts vinegar) all down my white t-shirt.
