This is just one powerful example of how Bridget Phillipson has clearly not read her draft Bill properly. She is asserting something in her article that fails the basic test of reading against the Bill’s detail.
There are other examples which I will bring to light over the next few days.
This Bill needs urgent and serious Parliamentary scrutiny.
Bridget Phillipson says the conversion practices bill won't target parents.
There is nothing on the face of the bill that says parents are protected.
She says the test is “serious physical or psychological harm”.
In fact the bill sets the test much lower at “serious alarm or distress…which has a substantial adverse effect on their usual day-to-day activities”.
This could easily capture parents who don't let their child wear a binder or go out dressed as the opposite sex.

It is clear Bridget hasn’t read her own bill.
This article is full of warm, soothing words that are a world away from the realities of this bill.
The draft bill is full of significant consequences for lesbian and gay rights, for families, for faith organisations and much more. It needs detailed scrutiny by Parliamentarians to protect rights we have taken for granted for decades and more.
I urge people to read the bill for themselves so you can understand the road it is taking us down.

We call on France to exercise restraint when dispersing the freedom fighters on the streets of Paris. These brave warriors for justice must receive immediate humanitarian aid, and their safety must be guaranteed in accordance with international law. Failure to comply will leave us no choice but to bring a case before the ICJ, in close cooperation with that renowned champion of human rights, Afghanistan.

It currently costs the Royal Navy in excess of £1 million to shoot down a single drone using a Sea Viper missile.
After the DragonFire laser system is rolled out from 2027, 5 years ahead of schedule thanks to Brexit, it will cost around £10 a shot.
Such a massive saving for UK.

Yesterday I attended the @ChtyCommission annual public meeting online. I typed in a question on the Equality Act and waited and waited... it was never asked.
Two other charity people told me their questions on the Equality Act were also "held in review".
It is not 2018! We are allowed to talk about this.

The #Piddington women watched on as the Minister for Women @bphillipsonMP walked out of The Commons as the debate about our safety was about to start…
@andyburnham we cannot believe you will standby and let this happen?
You voted to put the rights of illegal migrant men before the safety of women and girls.
That’s what happened yesterday. Don’t try to pretend otherwise.
Do you think British people didn’t have rights before the ECHR and won’t have them after we leave? Do you think that Australians, Canadians and New Zealanders don’t have rights because they aren’t in the ECHR? It’s a nonsense argument and you know it.
If you genuinely believe this nonsense you have written, then your complete ignorance of how rights in this country came about is as shocking as your failure to listen to the genuine concerns of women about their safety.

Miller v Home Secretary and @LincsPolice
On the orders of the Home Secretary, police are now recording full fat hate crimes against individuals -
- No evidence needed beyond the say so of a complainant
- No interview under caution
- No charge
- No CPS
- No magistrate, judge or jury
- No guilty verdict
Just straight to a criminal record without passing Go.
We say that is abhorrent. We say this is a police state Britain.

Don’t worry - your own freedom of expression includes the freedom to get things completely wrong.
The issue isn’t Sally Rooney’s political views, or even her books. It’s her stated intention to use the proceeds to fund a proscribed organisation.
A rather important distinction.
in my original post about the Sally Rooney affair I have been accused of oversimplifying what has happened. And that's fair - I did. But after going into this in more depth I realise that we end up in much the same place - books not on sale to the UK public because of the entirely unrelated activities of their author. After all who is to know whether the proceeds from books that would have been sold would actually be the money to be be donated to Palestine Action as opposed to money that Rooney has already made or is making elsewhere? Rooney btw, with scant regard for her readers, seems not to be unhappy for this to happen.
I don't imagine that the government anticipated this outcome when it produced the ban and I'm not at all sure that Faber shouldn't have taken the risk of a prosecution that probably would never have happened. The result is the same - books not available for political reasons.

If Burnham is raising Brexit to get votes, it makes sense, but I agree with everything @edballs says here, if it’s a serious enterprise it is likely to backfire badly. Hard to see any form of closer relationship which won’t involve enormous financial contributions or some form of freedom of movement

Labour has an agreement to run Wealden District council with the LibDems and the Greens. It's a Liberal-Green dominated coalition supported by two Labour members who get a Cabinet position in return.
Leadership rotates between the Greens and the LibDems. At the moment it's led by none other than Rachel Millward, Green Party Deputy Leader.
Millward will therefore have to publicly disavow the "Zionism is racism" motion in order to remain in power in her patch - if Labour takes itself seriously.

Illegal immigrants shouldn't be housed in tiny villages.
We have a plan, leave the ECHR so we can deport them instead.

This is disgraceful. Piddington also has a Liberal Democrat MP.
The Lib Dems abstained on the vote to leave the ECHR, deport illegal migrants and stop them being housed in villages, including Piddington. This is basically siding with illegal migrants over the wants of their own constituents.
