The Bank of Canada spent years designing a $20 that cannot be faked. The impenetrable note unveiled this week has a purple stripe that spins, transforms and pulses when you tilt it. Features "never before used on Canadian currency," in the Bank's words, so it can "maintain its technical advantage over counterfeiters." Governor Macklem called it "striking, symbolic and secure." The current $20 came out in November 2012. Statistics Canada's own price index says the same $20 buys about 28% less today than it did then. But that's because of legal money printing. (In November 2012, for what it's worth, a bitcoin cost about $12 US.) So the new note solves one problem well. It stops YOU from making more of it. It does nothing about stopping them. Bitcoin's security feature is the second one. Nobody, anywhere, can make another.
Introducing the new $20 bill, with its advanced and dynamic security features. You’ll start seeing this $20 bill in circulation early next year! Learn more: bit.ly/4ygIUkO #vertical20

It’s absolutely repulsive what @JoshShapiroPA is doing. Leave the Amish and the rest of the Commonwealth’s citizens alone. Using public health fear mongering to push through Orwellian controls that strip people of privacy and bodily autonomy is deeply evil.

Still can’t believe that people don’t understand that EVERY pool should look like this. It’s actually sad that not a single other mining pool can do this because none of them have real miners. Despite the obvious nothing burger of BIP110, being happy that all the other pools are centrally creating blocks and thus can never be contradictory is actually an L.
ocean vs ocean gg 😂

War used to require consent. Not because leaders were noble, because they needed your gold to fight it. The printer removed the asking. You fund every war now. You just find out at the grocery store.

A currency that lost 97% of its value is legal tender. An asset that rose 10,000x is “too risky.” The people who decide what’s risky own the printer. Funny how that works.

This man robbed a bank for $1, sat down and waited for the police, just to get free healthcare in prison In 2011 a man named Richard James Verone walked into a RBC Bank in Gastonia, North Carolina Handed the teller a note demanding $1 One dollar Then sat down in the lobby and waited calmly for police to arrive He was 59. No job. No insurance. A growth on his chest. Two ruptured discs. Calculated that a federal conviction would guarantee him full medical coverage inside prison The judge sentenced him to 3 years He got the surgery He got the treatment He told reporters on the way out he had no regrets A 59 year old American man robbed a bank for $1 because it was cheaper than seeing a doctor
