Just remember, #WarhammerCommunity, @GW_officialuk already retconned Old World lore to make it more woke. Now they’ve retconned Adeptus Custodes lore without a second thought to the 37 years and dozens of published books which preceded it, let alone respect for the 40K fans who’ve invested in that lore and those books for decades. They’ve even promoted bear fetish Marines (ie fetishized sex with large hairy men) in White Dwarf, a hobby magazine which is supposed to be kid friendly. And that was all done in the span of just the last few months. If you let them slide on all of that, you absolutely encourage them to keep demolishing the setting until it’s completely unrecognizable, and all that’s left is some woke parody of the setting. So if you want to prevent 40K from meeting the same sad end as so many other franchises in recent years, do the following: 1) WRITE TO GW Use this address: Games Workshop Group PLC Willow Road, Lenton Nottingham, NG7 2WS United Kingdom Make sure to also e-mail them (but remember them, this is not a substitute for sending a physical letter!). I’d suggest e-mailing all the following addresses at once with your concerns: custserv@gwplc.com community@gwplc.com team@whitedwarf.co.uk Press@gwplc.com Contact@blacklibrary.com investorrelations@gwplc.com 2) DO NOT BUY GW MODELS/3D PRINT Either buy a 3D printer, which is incredibly cheap these days for a high quality printer, or buy 3d printed models online. And more than that, POST THE MODELS ON SOCIAL MEDIA! Make sure to use the #WarhammerCommunity hashtag every time you do so. Or #warhammer40000, #warhammer40k, or #warhammertheoldworld. Particularly if you’re showing off near replicas or outright clones of GW models. Let GW know that you don’t need them to get the models you want, and can get models from other sources which are as good or even better. And encourage people to stop buying GW models and get 3D printed models or third party models instead. At the very least, seriously curtail your spending. I collect 12+ armies, with plans to start two more, and I’ve cut my spending on all of them down to $0. 3) TRY OTHER GAMES Give Bolt Action, Kings of War, and others a try. That’s what I did when WFB was killed. Rather than continue with AOS, I took my Empire army and rolled it into Kings of War, and very quickly collected an Undead army from Mantic in addition, while working to build the Kings of War community in my area. I also played The 9th Age and others. 4) DO NOT BUY GW PAINTS There are plenty of options from other companies, like Army Painter. Use those paints rather than GW paints. And don’t buy GW’s overpriced tools, either. 5) CANCEL WARHAMMER+ If you have a Warhammer+ subscription, cancel it immediately. Then write custserv@gwplc.com, demand a prorated refund on your remaining time, and tell them why. Make them charge back that money to you, even if it’s $1. Remember, spending money on GW now is a vote for more lore damaging retcons in pursuit of short term ESG money at the expense of the hobby you’ve known and loved for years.
