THREAD OF MY THREAD COMPILATIONS 🧵
(Drawing below by yours truly -> I promise the pencil sketch looked better)
To go from Sep. Anxiety to Carnage Unleashed is such a crazy tonal whiplash. Venom comics took a omplete 180⁰ after 1994 to what most people remember them for.
Which is how batshit crazy they are 😭
Separation Anxiety is the story that summarizes everything that I like about this era of Venom.
Two empty beings who need each other to be whole; who need each other to escape. Who, after years together, are forced to realize they are actually horrible to each other (+)
Donna is in the same boat as Eddie. His negative influence on the group mixed with her pent up and frustrating past results into the whole group being destroyed.
In a way, just like Brock, she's using the symbiote as an excuse for her worst to come out. (+)
Mackie is lowkey one of the most important Venom writers and extremely underrated when it comes to how he characterizes the bond
He was the one who kickstarted the fractures in Eddie and The Other's relationship. Also probably the first writer that portrays them as an addiction
One of the first times the venom symbiote spoke. It only went downhill for the goo from this point on 💔💔

Something that I wonder if it's ever gonna resurface in Venom comics is Eddie's tendencies towards taking his own life.
His guilt is a pretty big part of his tragedy. One he tried to avoid for years through his delusions until it became too much in the 2000s
The Stalkers are another example of a Venom villain that seems thematically interesting but was never fleshed out in future stories.
Cosmic Venom would've probably benefitted from this type of all-consuming antagonist as a parallel to the way the symbiotes bond

After a year of off and on research, reading, and work, I have now finally completed THE ULTIMATE VENOM ICEBERG
It’s the first Iceberg I’ve personally made. I’m sure I’ve missed a lot and I’m sorry for that, but if I kept going it wouldn’t end lol. Very proud of this one.
If I had to praise Venom (2018) for one thing it would be the fact that Göransson made the definitive theme for the character and the OST is geniunely really good. I still listen to it from time to time
Something interesting about Symbiosis is the idea that eventually both Eddie and The Other start to lose their individual senses of self. They start messing. That's when that lovely paradox of accountability begins, and they can choose to neglect it.
It feels powerful, right?
Reading Mace after the new #1 gave me such a crazy whiplash because now Eddie has a no-kill rule and back then he was moving like this
