What a performance from Zizou on Stadium Court! Up against world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz, he stayed calm, aggressive and focused when it mattered most, winning 7-5 7-6(4) in Round 3 of the Rolex Shanghai Masters. 🎾
He edged a tight first set 7-5 (with 2 breask for Zizou and one for Carlos), then held his nerve in the second set. He broke at 5-5, served for the match but got rebroken. In the tiebreak, Zizou had 2 mini-breaks and despite his first double fault of the match, Zizou closed it out 7-4.
A big win over one of the best players in the world.
It’s his third straight-set win in a row this week: 6-3 6-1 against Vít Kopřiva, 6-0 6-3 against Ignacio Buse (ATP 36), and now this one against Alcaraz.
Next up in Round 4 on Wednesday 14 October: Tommy Paul 🇺🇸 (ATP 18). Time TBD.
