I'm extra nostalgic & grateful today. It's safe to say that the #StudyAbroad programme between @UniofExeter and @Carleton_U changed my life. It was THE BEST decision!
I say in the Acknowledgements: "I am extremely grateful to the staff and students at @Carleton_U. You expanded my thinking & reinvigorated my passion for literature. Just one year at Carleton changed the trajectory of my life." @CUinEnglish @CU_FASS @Carleton_Intl @CarletonAlumni

🦥Calling students/grads studying animals! 🦥As part of our efforts to reach out to students with an interest in #HumanAnimalStudies, @asi_org has created Sloth: A Journal of Emerging Voices in Human Animal Studies -- a journal for undergraduate students and recent graduates.🧵
🧵The mission of #Sloth is to publish scholarly studies, book and film reviews, or artistic products that increase our understanding of or raise awareness of issues involving human/non-human animal relationships.
🧵The journal is continuing publication after a hiatus that began in 2021: animalsandsociety.org/resear… 🦥

I'm fascinated by the growth of video & tabletop RPGs about communities of 'realistic' anthropomorphic animals. There's so much to discuss here. I think I need to get writing (and playing!)🤔🕹️🐀

I remember seeing the co-operative hunting in #MyOctopusTeacher and wondering whether this kind of interspecies collaboration was more common that we had assumed. The lives of fishes and molluscs are far richer and more complex than we ever imagined #fishwelfare #octopuswelfare
Octopuses work with fish to catch prey - and punch those that are not helping.

Excellent! I'm so delighted that this journal exists. Looks like I'd better get to work on some submissions👀📚

#DavidAttenborough called #Lobo "The Wolf That Changed America." #Disney made "The Legend of Lobo" film about him in 1962. But what's the truth behind the story? How many real Lobos were there?

Today, from my office in England, I'm finally reading one of Ernest Thompson Seton's journals held in the @AMNH. After writing about him for so many years, I'm now able to see his original notes and illustrations on the wild animals he encountered. 🧵
without the use of #openaccess online archives. My deepest and sincerest heartfelt thanks go to every single person who has gone through the no doubt arduous task of scanning and archiving thousands of old books and documents. 🧵
This is why organizations like @internetarchive are absolutely vital. (While we're at it, here's the open letter regarding Hachette v. Internet Archive: chng.it/wSsYXctMpC)
Thank you to #librarians, #archivists, and #digitalcurators everywhere.
