A8: One of my favorite resources for parents on the @thepartnership website is their "Drug Prevention Tips for Every Age" section. It helps parents talk to their kids no matter what age they are. Even toddlers! drugfree.org/article/prevent… #CADAChat

A5: One of the best ways you can help prevention is educating yourself on the topic! Being able to have a candid, truthful conversation with your child only helps them better understand. Instead of just saying "drugs are bad" you can explain why #CADAChat

I think mental health check-ups should be routine for all young people. They need to know it's okay to not feel okay. And it's okay to ask for help. #CADAChat

A4: Because so many young people who struggle with mental health issues like depression, anxiety, etc. frequently turn to self-medication in order to feel "normal." It's better to have those issues addressed by a professional. #CADAChat

Q4: Why is it so important for parents to seek professional help early on for a child who shows possible signs of a mental health disorder? #CADAChat

A3: There are a number of reasons. Teenage brains are developing and susceptible to damage from drugs. Adolescence is also a time when kids want to take risks. Early drug use also increases the risk of addiction. #CADAChat

A8: My son took Suboxone while battling a heroin addiction. While it may not have been perfect, I think it probably saved his life. And that's a damn good thing, IMO. #CADAChat
