Maggie Gyllenhaal reveals Hollywood sex scenes had ZERO protection for 20 years while fight scenes always had full coordinators and how a cut-up yoga mat was once the only barrier
"It used to be... sex scenes since Secretary... almost twenty years... you just figured out how to deal with it..."
"And then... before it was even called Me Too... Natalie Portman started talking about why... fight scenes always have a stunt coordinator... Why is there never anybody there for sex scenes?"
"Emily Mead... brought it up with them on The Deuce... they immediately took action... Alicia came, our intimacy coordinator... I was like... I don't know that I need any help... Then season three... she was amazing..."
"I'm not particularly concerned about nudity... I am concerned about actual contact... we cut up a yoga mat... put it in a pillowcase..."
"Alicia... says let me know if you have your period... Even if you signed a nudity waiver, it's not binding at all. If you change your mind... you are not going to do it."

Hi Twitter! I wrote a book about an autistic Black woman who struggles with adulthood! It’s like a mix of the show Atlanta, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Amelia Bedelia for perpetually sighing adults

We are pleased to announce that, after two days on the road, our assigned team arrived safely in El Obied with the 15.5 tonnes of food aid that they were entrusted to deliver.
The journey to the previously besieged city of El Obied remains fraught with danger, and we are grateful to our assigned team for having the courage and professionalism to make this aid delivery and distribution a success.
These pictures show the joy and relief of some of the 500 families during distribution.
We would once again like to thank our friends at Operation Olive Branch (OOB) for providing the grant to fund this delivery.
If you would like to support the work KAK is doing to provide relief to war-affected people in Sudan, the link is in the reply. Thank you.
A woman is dead because of this, many more will too and these people couldn't be happier. Disgusting

A trans woman died because of the UK’s new hospital ward policy forcing them men's wards. Joelle was only 27 — a musician, coder, and daughter. This is what happens when they care more about demagoguery, backwards views of sex, non-existent risk than people's well being.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Joelle's case dates to 2023 after a Conservative minister's ward announcement, not the Oct 2026 NHS biological-sex guidance. The Trans Legal Clinic page ties it to that earlier event.

The UAE is a gold laundering state. Despite having zero gold mines within its borders, it’s a regional hub for gold. It sold Russian gold after it got sanctioned and its selling Sudanese blood stained gold right now. All smuggling routes in Sudan lead to the UAE.

Albanian revolutionaries are removing Israeli-Emirati “smart” surveillance cameras from the streets of Tirana, installed by Israel’s Mossad to spy on Albanians on behalf of Edi Rama's regime. Albanians are dismantling Edi Rama’s “Zionist Big Brother” surveillance state.

Time for him to leave a Government for Albanians, not Israel to take over.

Half of the Cornell students found guilty of sexual assault were tasked with “writing essays” as punishment.
They weren’t suspended or expelled.
They weren’t criminally charged.
They had to write an essay.
That’s not a punishment, it’s a joke.
Women aren’t safe at Cornell.
This woman was raped at Cornell. She explains that her rapist got an essay - just like Jane Doe's case.
A CNN investigation found that "half of the 16 Cornell University students found responsible for sexual assault over a recent 4 year period avoided suspension or expulsion. Instead, they were punished with written reprimands, disciplinary probations, and extra study programs."

Gaza made every journalist a legitimate target. What was allowed to happen to Palestinian journalists - the targeted slaughter - made every single journalist in the world less safe. A passport or an institutional affiliation won’t matter and this is a hell of our making because we collectively as the institution of journalism didn’t consider Palestinians our colleagues, as humans worthy of protection & life.
“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah.
Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah.
Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah.
"The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him.
Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.

You are absolutely correct. It’s the same scenario reenacted across every mineral - rich African country and the most glaring example is the DRC. The colonial curse is still active.

The US admin wants to take advantage of the situation in Sudan the way it's taken advantage of the situation in DRC.
It stands by as its allies do the heavy lifting of razing, then swoops in as the usual wolf-in-savior's-clothing to pillage freely.

Every winter I think about Khaleel and what he was trying to do to help unhoused and vulnerable citizens. Instead of hiring him as a consultant and contractor, the city wasted taxpayers' money suing him for violating ByLaws, and of course paid a white man to copy Khaleel's idea.
