A good GM in this era of NIL is essentially the team’s financial “butler”, and given the size of some programs/schools the GM should be Ath Dept wide but have a deeper financial focus on the Rev Gen sports. I will use current and past examples to reinforce my point. A good GM should know the NIL discrepancy between the diff players and position groups on the team (there will be discrepancies). He should understand how financial management and player management go hand in hand Ex: several seasons ago a MAC caliber Qb transferred into the big12 and a season later came back to the MAC, a good GM at a neighboring MAC school would have the were-with all to have prioritized that specific QB and set aside a large sum of $$ if required. A daily obsession with the transfer portal is a must! The Gm should be able to drop some of the fixed costs associated with the sport through various partnerships/deals. Let’s take a look at LSU these past few years. They have had the NIL equivalent of Michael Jordan playing Gymnastics for them! From a purely profit POV nobody is touching Olivia dunne! What has LSU been able to turn that into? Is vuori making uniforms for them? Is there a deeper relationship between the school and the brand due to the common interest they share (The athlete)…. Is anyone pursuing a deeper relationship? ( IDK myself that’s y im asking)

@KingJames were you to go down this route, by the time it’s all said and done your name would be the third most mentioned EVER IN HUMAN HISTORY, only behind Jesus and Muhammed…. Get an osu degree, get 4+ years with your sons enjoying the college life, sell more jerseys with your name on them than Mitchell and Ness have EVER sold. Come home and claim your throne!
