Really happy to share our paper out today @ Molecular Cell, where we elucidate the pivotal roles of BRCA1-BARD1 ligase in not only early DNA end resection but also subsequent stages in homology-directed repair. Congratulations to all the authors!

Super excited for Chris Woods to defend his dissertation (working with @KlevitLab) gonna be 🔥🔥
We are thrilled to share our work on Cullin-independent substrate recognition by the RBR E3 ligase HHARI, led by @KHReiter now out in @Structure_CP. While RBRs share a conserved catalytic module, substrate recruitment mechanisms remain enigmatic.

HDX-MS, XL-MS, and NMR studies reveal that HHARI is released from auto-inhibition by a phosphomimetic mutation, and that the Rcat domain contains a substrate-binding surface.

There is a story that I have been wanting to tell for a while regarding a scientific journey that started more than 6 years ago. It’s been a really eye-opening process and I hope it can serve as an inspiration to others, especially those starting their research careers.

Really excited (and a little jealous) that @tylergfranklin is spending the week up in the @KlevitLab at @UWBiochemistry. Can’t wait to see what kind of data he comes home with. I wonder if my old lab bench is available…
