On the morning of January 12, 1888, the weather on the Nebraska prairie turned strangely mild after weeks of bitter cold.
People went out in lighter clothes. Nineteen-year-old Minnie Freeman was teaching in a small sod schoolhouse near Ord with about thirteen students.
Around midday the sky darkened, the wind rose, and a sudden blizzard slammed the Great Plains. Temperatures plunged far below zero in a short time.
Visibility dropped to almost nothing. The storm tore at the school: the door blew open and part of the roof came off. Snow and freezing air poured in.
Some teachers that day tried to walk children home and lost them in the whiteout. Minnie kept her group together. Historical accounts differ on the exact method—some say she tied the children in a line and led them through the storm to a nearby farmhouse; others say they stayed in the damaged building until help arrived.
What is not in dispute is that all of her students survived.
The blizzard killed more than two hundred people across the Midwest. Minnie’s rescue made her famous.
Newspapers covered it, a parlor song was written in her honor, and she received letters and gifts from strangers. She later said she had simply done what a teacher should do. 🙏♥️

Newsom went to the UN to call Trump an “invasive species” and invent a genocide quote. That’s not courage. That’s a governor using the world stage to campaign while California still can’t keep housing cheap, streets clean, or energy affordable. Facts don’t care about his press office captions.
He said ending Trump is the most important climate issue. No. Affordable power, working grids, and people being able to stay in their own state are. California lectures the planet and then wonders why families and businesses keep leaving.

Around 2:30 AM in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, a knife-wielding man chased a visibly Jewish yeshiva student down the street,
threatened him, and screamed “Heil f***ing Hitler.” Then he stood outside the building yelling, “Now I know where you live.”
Police identified the suspect as Devin Best, 48. He has been charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime and menacing.

New York Times reporter Jonathan Swan just got a stunning reality check from both Bill Maher and author James Kirchick.
Swan was spiraling over President Trump barring CNN and MS NOW from the White House, until Kirchick reminded him of some of the Obama-era media scandals.
KIRCHICK: “During the Obama administration they tapped the AP bureau’s phones and the phones of AP bureau reporters. They tapped their phones!”
Maher backed up some of the claims and seconded Kirchick’s point about the Obama administration.
MAHER: “I looked this up about freezing out one…they did it with Fox News. Josh Earnest, he was in the Obama administration. He admitted it.”

🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in Florida after a 19-year-old whose speeding Mustang K*LLED two elderly people last year...
...was caught doing 120 to 130 MPH, running stop signs, and turning off his headlights to escape cops...
...ON A SUSPENDED LICENSE.
AND HE IS STILL WALKING FREE.
His name is Denis Maldonado-Reyes, he's 19 years old, in Apopka, Florida.
Back in November, troopers say he was driving 90 miles per hour in a 45 zone. Double the limit.
His Ford Mustang plowed into the side of a LYNX transit van as it turned.
Two people inside that van were k*lled.
Jerry Earl, 81 years old.
Aida Maldonado, 94 years old.
He tried to blame the VAN.
Nearly a YEAR later, that fatal case still hasn't been resolved.
He pleaded not guilty and he's been walking free the entire time.
And what did he do with that freedom?
Late last month, a deputy saw his Mustang blow through a four-way stop. Pass a car over a double yellow line. Then TURN OFF HIS HEADLIGHTS in the dark to try to disappear.
The chase hit 130mph.
And he was doing it all on a SUSPENDED LICENSE.
Suspended because he never paid a ticket for illegally blowing past a stopped SCHOOL BUS.
WHY IS HE WALKING FREE?????????
