nah the thing that gets me the most about the tweet limit is that literal government services use Twitter as a way to quickly communicate and spread information. he's actively making the world worse by doing this. fuck that man

The TRUE way to destroy the art industry is to remove all 2+ hour video essays from Youtube.

This is so carefully written and thoughtfully phrased and I mean zero disrespect to the OP, but this well-meaning advice to make art specifically to court the algorithm makes me so, so sad to see

to all artists accepting commissions: scammers are more and more frequently using commissions as a way to steal your information, and theyโ€™re getting more convincing. i just had someone offer to pay me very well to draw them a very detailed set of pieces, and they gave (1/4)

Unironically think we should bring back โ€œinternet safety 101 for kidsโ€ stuff but modernized now thereโ€™s much better understandings of how/why ppl end up getting traumatized from online sometimes. The 90โ€™s-2000โ€™s psaโ€™s were condescending as hell letโ€™s not insult their intelligence

Reminds me of this meme
All the "people charge way too much for art nowadays" are the worst clients to work with Always unhappy with what you do, trying to get as much work from you as possible, always picking the cheapest option. Set your prices high, get a fair wage, and avoid these people lol

my art school profs told us that when you give a client an hourly estimate, add on a few hours, and when you're all done, you'll either "save them money" by not charging as much as the estimate, or if they were terrible to work with, you can easily charge them an "asshole fee"
fellow artists: โ€œasshole feesโ€ are a thing that exist. if someone youโ€™re working with is being an asshole to you, or is known for being difficult or unsavory for one reason or another, upcharge the shit out of them. just saying ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ itโ€™s common practice

$100 for a fullbody is CHEAP. It's MORE than reasonable. IT'S LESS THAN MINIMAL WAGE. Ya'll love luxury items but don't want to pay luxury item prices. If an artist is out of your budget range - you find an artist within your budget range. You dont NEED art. WE need to EAT.

When talking about commission prices/money: โ€œ$100 is a lot of money for some peopleโ€ Yes, but $100 is not enough to support the 15, 20, 50 hours artists might put into a drawing. Our goal is not to make our work affordable for every single person, we canโ€™t even draw that much.

Often the reason you feel like you're not good enough at what you do is because you're constantly exposed to incredible work in your field via social media or other ways That makes you create a VERY high standard for yourself while also overlooking the other creators' journey

When coloring, it is recommended to paint in a bright order in a dark base tone. And changing the tone and saturation gradually, you can paint more lively colors.
Artists, what tip really blew your mind and unlocked a new dimension of improvement for you? It can be technical or more personal development oriented!
