Waterloo Regional Police is warning residents about a recent trend of residential break-and-enters targeting homes that back onto greenspace, wooded areas, and public walkways. Between October 16 and 17, 2026, police received reports of three residential break-ins involving homes backing onto green space on Lands Court and Chase Crescent in Cambridge. At the time of the incidents, a grey Toyota RAV4, pictured below, was observed circling the area and is believed to be connected to the incidents. Anyone with information regarding residential break-and-enters or suspicious activity is encouraged to contact WRPS’ Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit at 519-570-9777, extension 8255. Nothing says end of summer and the start of the next school year, and most importantly the start of OHL hockey season as the annual @OHLRangers #FanFest! Today was extra special as we also are celebrating our 2026 @CHLMemorialCup win! Great to see so many fans and community partners out today including @jbirch_recruits, @KitchFire, @WRPSToday and of course our new local radio partners for the 2026-27 season, @CKWRFM and @TheGrand101FM! Looking for an amazing @OHLHockey season ahead! #RangersNation

🔥 We're proud of the work our affiliates do across Canada each year in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada and its mission. Thank you!
Across Canada, Fire Fighters have been part of the neuromuscular community for generations. Since 1954, you’ve shown up in ways that go far beyond your role. From organizing #FillTheBoot drives to hosting stair climbs, truck pulls, and pancake breakfasts, you bring your communities together to support our mission and help break down barriers for Canadians affected by neuromuscular disorders. Through your efforts, you continue to raise critical funds that: 🧬help fund research 🦼provide life-changing equipment ✅connect individuals and families to the programs and services they rely on ✅lead policy change Because of you, Canadians can access the support they need, when they need it. People can navigate their diagnosis with more certainty. And individuals living with neuromuscular disorders can move through life with greater independence and dignity. For our community, your support goes beyond fundraising. It’s the reassurance of knowing that, year after year, you continue to show up. That consistency means more than words can fully express. On #InternationalFireFightersDay, we thank our Fire Fighter partners who continue to support the neuromuscular community and help #BreakDownBarriers. @IAFFCanada

Supporting Ontario’s fire services starts with showing up, visiting fire halls, and listening to the priorities of our firefighters. Today, alongside MPP Jess Dixon , I had the pleasure of visiting @KitchenerFire, @Waterloo_Fire, and @GuelphFire to listen and learn from the men and women who protect their communities every day. My message was simple: our government hears you, we will continue to take action, and we will always have your backs. @ONFireChiefs

Many roads may be impassable or unsafe. 🚗 Avoid travel if possible ❄️ Expect slick, icy surfaces and rapidly changing conditions 🌊 Do NOT drive through flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don’t Drown 🚨 Emergency crews are responding, but access may be limited Please slow down, use extreme caution, and stay informed through local alerts and official updates. It’s on nights like tonight that we really appreciate our first responders! A shout out and big thanks to @CityKitchener @KitchFire for responding to this garage/shed fire near The Aud in the overnight hours of Christmas Eve night, & also to @WRPSToday for incident support. Fortunately everyone was ok, and it is a reminder for all of us to always keep our homes fire safe!
