Excited to share the white paper for the IGVF Consortium, supported by @genome_gov
Deciphering the impact of genomic variation on function
rdcu.be/dSZdm
Understanding the function of an entire genome is no easy task! Most genes likely have more than one function.
To understand the functional effects of genomic variation, NHGRI launched a consortium called Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF). genome.gov/news/IGVF
Come and see posters of the lab at #ESHG2024 – Pia is presenting P20.013.B (award candidate) this afternoon and Mohan will present P16.084.D tomorrow afternoon. Very different work studying non-coding sequence effects with our collaborators at @NadavAhituv lab and @JShendure lab.
Very proud of our PhD candidate Kilian presenting to a full audience at #ESHG2024. Congratulations to this great talk!
#ESHG2024 is up to a great start in Berlin! So happy to see Svante filling the lecture hall at 8:30am :)
Registration is open for a workshop on MPRAs (from sequence design to ML modeling) that we are organizing in Luebeck, Germany. Please join us in February! kircherlab.github.io/IGVF_wo…
We mourn the loss of a great person. Our close collaborator Prof. Michael Speicher from MedUni Graz died suddenly last weekend. Michael was an outstanding scientist and good friend to all of us. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and lab members.

Amazing opening keynote in front of a full house. Actually not even everyone was allowed in the lecture hall. Congrats @jfkelso #ismbeccb2023
Came across this great review with beautiful figures on human-specific traits and how to study them, published last month by @Lab_Pollen, @genomeCraig, @KlkUmut and @GrayCampLab: nature.com/articles/s41576-0…
Enjoyed writing this review on assays and resources for functional annotation of non-coding variants with my dear colleague @k_u_ludwig in Bonn: doi.org/10.1515/medgen-2022-…
Congratulations to Prof Christian Gilissen (@gilissenc) for officially accepting his professorship at Radboud University in Nijmegen today!
