Wages in December grew ever so slightly above the 2016-2020 trend relationship of wages and unemployment. Only took a 50 year low unemployment rate for it to happen... Wage growth still well down on what you would have expected any time from 1998-2012

Wonderful to hear @Tony_Burke quote our findings on Australian author income in today's @PressClubAust address. Although I am kicking myself for converting all $$ amounts into 🐄🐄 sooner! @Macquarie_Uni youtu.be/VA-_7JTM6Pg?t=1427

Tony Burke says the first poet laureate earned 2 cows– a writer today earns 9 cows ($18k pa). With the new cultural policy, I might need a paddock. With which, a decade in the cultural wilderness ends. @Tony_Burke #NPC

Interesting (dis)continuities with the previous government: « The policy reflects the government’s view that arts policy … has become too elitist, and should be tilted more towards mainstream and commercial culture » theconversation.com/albanese…

If you're watching commercial TV there are Australian content obligations. But if you're watching a streaming service there are none. I know we can do better and on Monday, January 30, I'll explain the timeline as part of our National Cultural Policy launch.

High home prices boost inheritances, and people on low incomes are spending more on housing. 🏠 This means economic positions could relate more to who your parents are – rather than talent or hard work, write @BrendanCoates + @joeybmoloney (@GrattanInst). bit.ly/3GwPF90
