She held such profoundly anti-Black racist views (which were documented in her book) that she was forced to apologise to save a major exhibition. Her views were so racist that they edited them out of the English translated version to save her brand.

That was a horrible call to pick up from our manager. I was in London when the news came down. Some time later. I was able to give my condolences directly to his brother Jimmy Vaughn. His face was a mask of grief that has haunted me for years. No tears. Just pure uncut pain.

On this day in 1989, a group of white teenagers killed a 16-year-old Black boy named Yusef Hawkins after he walked into a predominantly white neighborhood in Brooklyn to inquire about a used car. calendar.eji.org/racial-inju…

I think The Five Heartbeats is a good metric for measuring just how tapped into Black America a person is. It's one of the few Black movies that was written, directed, and produced by Black Americans and starred Black Americans. And, because of this, it didn't go mainstream in pop culture, though it did go mainstream in Black America. The Five Heartbeats is one of the most accurate and beautiful depictions of us. It is Black culture. It was completely for Us, by Us, which is not something you see in Hollywood anymore. Rest in Power, Michael Wright. You will truly be missed. 🕊️🕊️

Self-defense is a racial privilege reserved when nonmelanated people kill Black people. It is denied to Black people when defending themselves against white aggressors. George Zimmerman followed and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and was acquitted after asserting self-defense. Kyle Rittenhouse killed two people and wounded another and was acquitted after a jury accepted his self-defense claim. Chikei Rick Chow chased 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton more than 100 yards and shot him in the back after falsely suspecting him of stealing; his defense argued he was protecting his son, and a jury found him not guilty of murder. Zimmerman, Rittenhouse, and Chow had the complexion for the protection. Karmelo Anthony had the pigmentation for the condemnation. Even after Anthony’s defense team put previously suppressed evidence before the court about Metcalf’s behavioral history, including racist graffiti, bullying, aggression, and other disciplinary problems stemming from anti-Black racism, the judge still denied him a new trial. Don’t tell me race has nothing to do with how “self-defense” is heard, believed, accepted, and protected in America. When Zimmerman claimed it, he walked. When Rittenhouse claimed it, he walked. When Chow claimed it, he walked. When a young Black man claimed it against a white aggressor with a well documented history of anti-Black, racist, violence, he got 35 years. This is not equal justice. This is not blind justice. This is racism in Amerikkka.

Wrong. Mick’s Hero JAMES BROWN was the greatest frontman of all time and he is yet to be beat!
I would like to officially change my opinion! Mick Jagger is now the best Frontman ever to live! And this can't be debated!

🎸The Blues. One of the most important and transformative genres in all of music — a genre born in the African American tradition of the Mississippi Delta, one that seeded rock ‘n’ roll, soul, gospel and every sound that followed.

This is not a traditional concert. It is a full experience where music, storytelling, performance and atmosphere collide — tracing the blues from dusty Mississippi crossroads to the neon-lit speakeasies of New York and London.
