This will be the single largest expansion of our sanctions list since Russia started its war.
We also welcome the energy ceasefire, when it holds.
But we haven't seen yet if Russia will stick to it.

In Sweden 🇸🇪, around 400 personnel took part in a three-day, unscripted exercise designed to test new tactics for operating — and surviving — in a drone-heavy battlespace.
Reconnaissance drones, FPV systems, loitering munitions, electronic warfare, counter-drone capabilities and cloud-based command tools were all put to the test against a thinking adversary.
For NATO, the lesson is clear: future readiness depends on being able to detect, disrupt and adapt faster than the threat.

Nio svenska EU-parlamentariker röstade emot resolutionen om en EU-strategi mot islamistisk infiltration och Muslimska brödraskapets inflytande den 8 oktober 2026.
De fördelade sig på följande partier:

▪️Vänsterpartiet (V): 2 ledamöter
▪️Miljöpartiet (MP): 2 ledamöter
Totalt röstade 11 svenska ledamöter för, 9 emot och ingen avstod. En svensk ledamot deltog inte i slutomröstningen.
Resolutionen är ett politiskt ställningstagande, inte bindande lagstiftning. Den efterfrågar bland annat skärpt granskning av EU-finansiering och islamistiska påverkansnätverk.

Sveriges ståndpunkt är densamma som den har varit sedan den 24 februari 2022: Vi står vid Ukrainas sida så länge det krävs. Nu måste trycket på Ryssland öka och stödet till Ukraina stärkas ytterligare.
Vi beklagar USA:s överenskommelse med Ryssland om leveranser av diesel, eftersom energiintäkterna är centrala för den ryska krigskassan.
I en välkommen kontrast till detta kommer EU på måndag att anta sitt hittills mest omfattande sanktionspaket, med 1 600 sanktionslistningar mot det ryska militärindustriella komplexet.
Fler länder måste också göra mer för att motverka den ryska skuggflottan och på sikt använda de frysta ryska tillgångarna till förmån för Ukraina. I allt detta behövs nära samordning inom EU och med USA, Storbritannien och andra internationella partner.
Det breda politiska stödet och det starka folkliga engagemanget för Ukraina i Sverige är en styrka och en tillgång i dessa turbulenta tider. Sverige står vid Ukrainas sida, och Ukrainas frihet och suveränitet förblir vår främsta utrikespolitiska prioritering.

This isn’t a massive amount of oil. It’s 15 hours worth of monthly diesel supply. But this accomplishes three very ugly things:
1) Trump can threaten Ukraine if they bomb any more of Putin’s oil refineries.
2) This can be used as a pretext for why Trump insiders can do dirty business deals with Russia.
3) This can open the door for more sanctions relief for Putin.
