Today, the Killester Garden Village Committee, Killester Donnycarney FC and the Hadden family unveiled a history board at Killester Sports & Social Club honouring Staff Sergeant Bill Hadden M.M., after whom Hadden Park is named.
A WWI Royal Army Medical Corps veteran awarded the Military Medal for bravery under fire, Bill helped establish football in Killester, clearing the parkland with fellow veterans in 1928. During the Emergency, he led Killester’s Air Raid Precaution Unit.
A true community pioneer whose legacy lives on! ⚽
Thanks to Aaron Crampton, Gary Hanway and Frank Farrell for their work on the project, and to Tom Burke MBE and Barry Heneghan TD for attending.

The Killester Garden Village's nameplate signs were once all the green historic nameplate signs 🪧📌
Today two of the green historic nameplate signs survive.
We have submitted a project to @DubCityCouncil to reinstate all of the green historic nameplate signs in Killester.

It was derelict for around 20 years and our group was the catalyst of it reopening after years of campaigning and lobbying.
The hall is full of rich history and heritage and it's been the hub of the largest Irish WW1 ex-servicemen housing estate on the island of Ireland.
