Expeditions can be hard to maneuver as a mother & scientist.
Intense & exciting to have my essay published in @nytimes exploring how Expeditions can be an Academic Act of Defiance

Delighted to being invited at the very beginning of the African Network of Soil Ecology lead by @ulzino and colleagues who I met trough @spununderground at #ICOM12 @mycorrhiza_ims
Im SO glad that our work at @southmycorrhiza inspires/contributes to other Global South Networks!

Rob Ramos and @CamilleDelavaux visited us to sequence some of the collection. INVAM curators Jim Bever, Terra Lubin, Peggy Schultz and @lizkoziol spent hundreds of hours isolating #AMF spores, and Rob & Camille worked really hard to make sure this project was a success!

Passionate about #citizenscience? Keen on #fungi? Worried about Russia’s war in Ukraine? Let's take a look at our recent article about @inaturalist and amateur mycology in #Ukraine.

'The whole project is very anti-colonial...it's like a revolution because we, as scientists in the Global South, didn't have a lot of participation & still don't...I thought “Why? Let’s change that.”'

Fungi could save one of the rarest plants in the world.
Na’u is a flowering tree on the brink of extinction in Hawaii. 🌸

Great piece in @Forbes about how @spununderground is using ML technologies to document underground systems - and why this matters for fungal conservation.
So proud of @Giulifungi @fungifoundation as they advocate for the Fungal Pledge at #COP16. forbes.com/sites/danieladelo…

Our partners at @fungifoundation have been working tirelessly to protect fungi both above and belowground.
This is a massive moment for fungi. We urge all parties to sign this pledge to prioritize fungal conservation now. #COP16

We need the best researchers from across the world to map underground #fungi before they're gone. But there’s a gap in the research coming out of the Global South.
SPUN's Underground Explorers Program tackles this issue. @adri_corrales33 explains how:

Fantastic & very efficient sampling (40 samples) on Saturday with @spununderground #RewildingChile, Rocío Urrutia-Jalabert & #MateoBarrenengoa on Alerce Andino National Park. We’ll uncover relationships between AMF diversity & tree aboveground biomass. Beautiful experience!
Massive congrats @adri_corrales33 for winning the Maxwell Hanrahan Foundation award.
I had the honor joining Adriana on an expedition two weeks ago to the Amazon basin. She is an inspiration to field biologists everywhere bit.ly/3zDwxa4 @spununderground

Great to see our lab work stimulating debate. Plant-fungal exchange processes are complex, elegant, & still mysterious. We should be open to using all types of tools & frameworks to understand them

BMT is a useful analytical tool for making mathematical predictions and testing hypotheses about resource exchange. This does not mean that fungi and plants are consistently rational traders. More here in our PNAS paper: pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pn…
