Hello! Just a quick update. I am still closed to queries as I have a little over 100 more to read through and then submissions to drool over as well! However, I am now open to marginalized authors ONLY at this time -- no expiration date on that at this moment. 1/?

If you're an unagented writer or author/illustrator of picture books, I hope you'll enter the 2025 #PBParty contest. It has helped make so many agent and editor matches...and we can't wait to see the magical matches that will happen this year. mindyalyseweiss.com/2025-pbp… #kidlit #PB #picturebooks

We may have a new look, but our commitment to advocating for essential changes in the publishing industry, supporting marginalized storytellers and creatives, and generating resources for educators and librarians across the country remains the same 📚❤️ 🎨 by Erin Shappell

ALT Starting a Nove: Scope and Style Master Class With Alejandro Heredia Saturday, December 7, 1-4PM EST Register at kwelijournal.org

Starting a Novel In this workshop, we will discuss the various elements of scope and style that a writer must consider while beginning a novel. What characters should the story follow so that I can tell the best version of this story? What point of view might best serve the story? When and how should I release information to keep the reader engaged? What form might sustain the story for the length of a novel, and how can I intentionally break form, to add further meaning to my project? Together, we will look at key examples of novel openings from works by Rivka Galchen, Virginia Woolf, and others. This workshop is for folks who are about to begin or just beginning a novel, and it will serve folks who have written a full draft and are now in the process of revising their manuscript.
