I thought there was a chance of guilt by association with Trump-Epstein before 3 weeks ago. Now I am convinced that either Trump is a pedo or he at the very least has no problem with pedos/sex traffickers. – at Philadelphia, PA

Mark Carney, "In the heart of Germany, above Weimar, there is a wooded ridge called Ettusberg. And for decades, Goethe walked, thought, and wrote there. An oak on that ridge came to bear his name, a living monument to the highest ideals of European culture" "As the 20th century turned dark, that same oak became trapped behind the barbed wire of Buchenwald. A silent witness to humanity's deepest moral failure. Goethe understood that ideals must be fought for, that values do not defend themselves." "Indeed, at the end of Faust, the old man's last vision is of a free people on free ground. Nödvg, Värdjän, Siegfreiheit. Wie das Leben, de taklik si eroban mus" "Freedom and life must be earned every single day" "Every day" "Every day, not once in 1945 or 1956 or 1989. Every day, including this one." My take: 1945, 1956 and 1989 are not distant history lessons: they mark Europe’s liberation from fascism, Hungary’s uprising against Soviet rule, and the fall of the Iron Curtain. Carney’s point is that freedom is never something Europe simply achieved and banked forever - it is a choice, a responsibility and, when necessary, a struggle renewed by every generation.

People try to blame the inflation solely on the 2021 rescue plan but none of Trump's 2020 rescue plans. Plus post Covid economy opening up was responsible for 70+% of it and would have happened regardless of the policies.
What MAGAts fail to mention is that the inflation under Biden was caused by exterior factors in the world economy following COVID (which Trump badly mismanaged). Trump's inflation is 100% self inflicted. Facts matter...who knew?

Big day for Zuckerberg, who rightly called that Trump would be a stalwart defender of the first amendment. Big moment for the WHCA, which had Trump on the stage during its awards ceremony not to far back.

I know TX is unique. But they've had 3 governors since 1994. You'd think they would be the state like VA with a one-term limit. Even GOPers have to be unenthused about voting for Abbott a 4th time especially with everything being worse than 4 years ago even if not his fault.
If the GOP loses in Texas—still a very big if—my prediction is that the response will not be to examine why the state GOP nominated a terrible, charmless criminal in Ken Paxton but to double down and nominate the most hilariously terrible candidate they can find in the next race.

In all seriousness, how is this not fraud. It's actively deceiving the recipient in pursuit of monetary gain. That the monetary gain is in the form of election contributions does not change that fact.
This is totally crazy. A GOP candidate in Texas is sending texts that say "Attachment: $5,000 Check… Pres. Trump just authorized it," and a link to the "portal" for the $$ goes to a fundraising page for him to pay off his personal loan to the campaign! prospect.org/2026/09/17/repu…

The sequence in this post checks out exactly. Judge Cooper ruled today that the board can't rename the building without Congress, and the board voted to close it hours later. What's notable is Trump saying reconstruction "will not take place" unless that ruling gets overturned, even though Congress already appropriated $257 million for the renovation. That's the shakedown dynamic reporters have been alleging for weeks, now stated by Trump himself, in writing, as a condition.

I’ll never understand how Republicans have succeeded in perpetually sustaining the myth, with a significant number of American voters, that they’re better for the economy than Democrats despite all the data dating back to WW2 proves otherwise. Crazy.

Every decade or so people are reminded why.
We are living through the experiment of Republicans having full control and turns out everybody hates it! they only ever cared about winning the culture war, they had no clue governing went past owning the libs

Two things. 1) When will the people who argued in April 2025 that Democrats should stay silent on immigration own up to being frankly just disastrously wrong about the politics of mass deportations? Their punditry ran against the polling data and basically bordered on enablement.
NEW: Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) just rolled out a straight to camera ad breaking with Trump. "Mr. President, some of your immigration enforcement efforts have gone too far....The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today"

Again, I cite Bill Buckley: Many Americans just can't fathom that other people, too, have patriotism. That they have national pride and dignity. It's amazing, this failure to understand.

The spin that the Iran war stopped Iran from nuking Israel off the map is so fucking funny when you consider like 8-9 months prior, Trump and co said they bombed Iran’s nuclear capabilities back to the Stone Age

This teen boy has now been in an internment camp for 165 days. His birthday is coming up. He has been accused of no crime, was here legally, and has no deportation order. Just indefinite detention at the discretion of Marco Rubio.
Marco Rubio Is Punishing a Teenager For His Grandmother's Sins This story is as outrageous as the student detained for an op-ed. A green card holding family interned for months for a crime they didn't commit. My latest w/ emails from inside Dilley: thebulwark.com/p/marco-rubio…
