What if someone gets to your Keystone 3 Pro before you do? 👀
You’ve asked us this a lot, so we put it on camera 💥
Watch to the end and share it with anyone who’s asked you the same thing 🫡

An anti-tampering system would have prevented this supply chain attack.
Hard day for the industry 😞
You backed up your seed phrase. Set a passphrase. Did everything right.
Then someone got your device.
Maybe it was a theft.
Maybe you left it somewhere.
Maybe someone with the right tools and enough motivation decided your wallet was worth cracking open.
This is where the Keystone 3 Pro's PCI-grade anti-tamper system becomes the last thing standing between them and your keys.
The moment unauthorized access is detected, the circuitry wipes everything stored in the secure elements.
No keys. Nothing to extract.
And it doesn't need you to be there for it to work.
Even if your main battery is dead, a dedicated button battery keeps the protection running for up to 2 years. In normal use, that protection window stretches past 3 years.
Your wallet is built to lose itself before it gives anything up.

Happy to support this initiative 🤝
Every time a serious bug surfaces, users' funds and years of builders' work are at stake.
Responsible disclosure exists to protect them, & not just vendors' reputation.
Find it quietly, fix it fast, update users, then talk.
That order saves people.
Glad to make this the industry standard together. We will hold up our end.
Respect to @P3b7_ & all our industry peers 🤝
Keystone wholeheartedly supports this 🤝
We've always believed security is stronger with multiple experts on it, not just one team. That's part of why we open-sourced our code, so researchers worldwide can scrutinize it, find gaps, and help us improve.
It's also how we've built partnerships with @SlowMist_Team, @BlockSecTeam, @Offside_Labs, @zknoxhq & @OneKey_Anzen to harden our codebase, and in every one of those, responsible disclosure made the difference. It gave us time to ship fixes and get our users updated before anything went public.
Now, AI is lowering the barrier to security research, and more people are finding bugs than ever. That's great for the community, but how that information gets handled matters a lot more when people's funds and years of builders' work are on the line.
That's exactly why responsible disclosure is a must.
We're glad to join our industry peers in making this the standard, and we'll hold up our end.
Respect to @P3b7_ for stepping up and leading this 🤝

Every item on this list exists because someone asked "but why should I trust you on that?"
Fair question.
So we removed ourselves from the answer 🫡

Most people think a strong PIN is enough to protect a hardware wallet.
It's not.
If a determined attacker gets physical access to your device, they don't need your PIN at all. They go straight for the hardware.
We built the Keystone 3 Pro to handle exactly that 🧵👇

Very cool first step!
Yes, signature grinding is expensive, requiring hours of compute for one tx. Definitely not a sustainable option.
But it proves the point: quantum resistance on Bitcoin is achievable, not just theory anymore.
A protocol-level upgrade is still a must.
And when it comes, the whole stack has to move with it. Signing device included. New signature schemes mean new firmware, maybe new chips, new everything.
Post-quantum readiness is on our radar for sure.

How long would your wallet survive if your seed phrase was stolen right now? 👀
Credit to @ColeTU, who ran a real-life test:
A weak seed phrase on a Coldcard MK3 wallet? Swept instantly.
With a passphrase? It held for nearly 6 days before being cracked.
That window is your escape hatch. But only if your passphrase is actually strong.
What kills the advantage:
- Weak, guessable phrases ("123456" gives you zero extra time)
- Storing your mnemonic and passphrase together
- Saving it to your phone or cloud
What preserves it:
- Long, randomised strings (letters + numbers + special characters)
- Backed up offline, separately from your seed
- Case-accurate. One wrong character = a different wallet.
- Test it thrice before you move assets.
The passphrase isn't a silver bullet. It's a timer.
Make sure you've given yourself enough time to make it right.
In this video, I send bitcoin to a compromised Coldcard mk3 to see how fast the funds are wiped.
I created 5 wallets:
1. Standard Seed Phrase using the insecure RNG.
2. The same seed phrase with 3 different passphrases (1 word, 2 words, 3 words)
3. The same compromised seed phrase but with random account number.

Everyone's been talking about Passphrase wallets lately.
And honestly? They deserve all the hype 🔥
A Passphrase wallet adds an extra layer of security and privacy for your assets.
But all that protection comes with a price:
Careful implementation & management.
Miss it? Your funds are gone forever.
Here's how to set it right the first time:
→ Avoid easy guesses like "123456"
→ Use a long, random string of letters + numbers
→ Be case-accurate — one wrong character creates a different wallet
→ Once your Passphrase wallet is set up, check it twice before moving assets
→ Back it up offline, never on your phone or cloud
→ Never store your mnemonic and Passphrase in the same place
Bookmark it. Share it. Your future self will thank you 🔐

Bumping this one more time.
The replies so far have been genuinely useful - some are already shaping our roadmap discussions.
If you haven't answered yet: what do you actually need from your hardware wallet?
I'm reading everything.
What happened to Coldcard users breaks my heart.
People who did everything right, who chose self-custody, who took security seriously, lost their entire BTC stack.
I have deep respect for @nvk and everything @COLDCARDwallet has stood for. He's been one of the most serious, uncompromising defenders of Bitcoin security we've had. Losing that force from the space, however this plays out, is genuinely painful to watch.
Still, I won't soften this: this was a serious mistake, and it has shaken something bigger than one product.
The confidence people place in hardware self-custody itself is now in question.
Here's where Keystone stands:
Keystone 3 Pro uses 3 independent TRNG sources, an MCU, and 2 separate Secure Elements, combined for final entropy.
That trustless architecture was a deliberate design choice, not an afterthought.
But this incident is making me ask: what more should we be doing?
I want to hear directly from you:
Which BTC software wallets should we integrate with next?
Which BIPs are you waiting on us to support?
What would make multisig, dice roll entropy, or any BTC UX meaningfully safer or simpler?
To put it plainly: what do you actually need from your hardware wallet?
Reply here. I'm reading everything.

Stop fudding hardware wallets.
Stop fudding self-custody.
Stop driving people back to CEX.
Let's take a step back before jumping to conclusions.
The right to private property is an inviolable human right. Bitcoin is the only asset where that right is perfectly exercisable. No intermediary, no permission, no counterparty. And self-custody is the only way to exercise it.
That hasn't changed. Not today.
To self-custody properly, your private key must never touch an internet-connected device. Ever.
Paper wallets are fragile and error-prone. Software wallets keep your keys on devices exposed to malware, viruses, and keyloggers around the clock.
Hardware wallets exist to solve exactly this.
They isolate your private key in a dedicated offline environment, so signing a transaction never requires your key to leave the device. That separation is the whole game.
Yes, hardware wallets started rough. Clunky UX, steep learning curves. But the industry evolved because every incident forced it to. That's not a bug in how this space matures. It's the mechanism.
Mt.Gox cost us 700,000 BTC. It taught us why self-custody matters.
FTX cost us 100,000 more. It taught us why "not your keys" is non-negotiable.
The ColdCard incident is teaching us what robust self-custody actually looks like.
This is tuition. Painful, real, and necessary.
Laozi said it 2,500 years ago: inside every disaster, fortune is already taking root.
We will come out of this more resilient, more rigorous, and closer to a world where every individual can truly hold their own financial freedom.
We're still here. Still shipping.

To all Keystone users,
Every Keystone device, from Keystone Pro/Essential (Gen 1) to the current Keystone 3 Pro, is safe to use.
Keystone devices generate seed phrases using TRNGs from Secure Elements. 128 bits of entropy for 12-word seeds, 256 bits for 24-word seeds.
With Keystone 3 Pro, we went further with the trustless design.
The MCU and 2 independent Secure Elements each generate their own TRNG, 3 separate sources combined into the final boosted entropy.
We've also meticulously implemented and verified the seed phrase generation process to make sure the intended entropy is actually achieved at every stage.
You can check it yourself:
github.com/KeystoneHQ/keysto…
On top of that, we have run several rounds of third-party security audits since launch, with the latest one ongoing as of January 2026. We also conduct continuous internal security reviews with the help of advanced AI tools.
Seed phrase generation is thoroughly reviewed for every audit.
Already have a seed phrase generated by your Keystone? You're good. Continue using it without any worries.
Got a new Keystone 3 Pro or want a trustless setup?
→ Add a passphrase after creating your seed phrase. It creates an entirely new wallet on top of your existing one. Store it separately from your seed phrase.
→ Use Casino-grade dice and roll at least 100 times with the dice-roll feature to hit 256-bit entropy, up to 256 rolls supported.
