If the box score looks better for your QB, use the box score. If EPA looks better, use EPA. If your QB graded out well in PFF grades, guess what you're using. If your QB struck out on all available metrics, just don't post in the groupchat for a couple days

What the PFF grade measures is the part of the play the QB actually controls — the read, the decision, the throw. Not the result that lands in the box score.

As much as I harp on coordinators being important, and in theory* you want them to scheme to what the players can do, some players just execute a scheme better and nobody is more important in that than the QB.

Wrote a column for @SoonersOnSI on OU's offensive performance at Michigan.
The #Sooners spent the offseason preaching a better run game, taking pressure off John Mateer. But when adversity hit, OU abandoned the run and asked Mateer to do everything.
That is not a sustainable formula.
