it has many faces. I've reviewed games in 90s for a gaming magazine. Early games were all different since it was new territory as tech progressed. Now a ton look the same, consumer demands are too high, and indies develop in the open loosing magic of discovery. On top of that flood of (AI) shit is incoming which will make it harder to get the signal from the noise and even more on top of all of that everything's in walled gardens of app/game stores who don't give a fuck.

Infogrames gets mentioned, people just don’t realize it because they’ve been Atari since 2009. They bought the name. Alone in the Dark was wild though. Fixed camera angles, 3D characters, and you never knew which door was gonna kill you. Resident Evil basically owes it rent hah

I never had the coins to finish it so I’d just watch other kids play the later stages. this is the first time I’m seeing this part in years

One can almost always do better if focused on a specific use-case. Be it quality or performance. Can't really compete much on general use-case, nor there's a need to do that. So right call. Also, it's hell of a fun ride to do it.

still has sticker on it. That's Austrian Schillings. 120 German Marks or 60 EUR when converted. Inflation adjusted that's roughly 120 Euros / 135 USD. And people complain about game prices today?! :)

Hah. It's rare to see a new concept in games these days. Love it!

It sounds fantastic to be honest. I can't hit anything outside of Solitaire with that resolution on 4090.

So, I had Saturn when it came out (one of the fools). I still have it. BUT.. I made a rule not to collect optical discs since they tend to either rot or are hard to (up)keep. Thus, Saturn, DC, PS1 with ODEs and PS2 with hard drive+network adapter

Haven't played it much outside maybe Terminal Velocity. 3DO aka Electronic Arts console. At the time I did reviews for game magazine and had Creative Labs version of 3DO. If _ONLY_ I held to that. Damn
