Fun KH lore of the day!
Riku lost his Keyblade because:
- He believed hearts were weak, the thing Keyblades represent.
- Sora's heart was stronger than his in that moment, as he showed he understood where true power comes from.
- He succumbed to darkness he could not control
Fun KH lore of the day!
It does not matter if you are wielding a Keyblade of light or one of darkness, as both types can utilize the power of light and darkness depending on their wielder. Keyblades are considered light or dark based on the realm in which they were forged.

Nomura-san is basically the father of Kingdom Hearts series and is well known for designing iconic Final Fantasy characters like Cloud.

Fun KH lore of the day!
Sora first obtained the Kingdom Key on Destiny Islands by accidentally touching the light within Riku's heart. He was able to wield Riku's Keyblade because he also met the necessary requirement to become a Keyblade wielder. Having a strong heart.

Fun KH lore for the day!
You do not specifically need the Kingdom Key and Kingdom Key D to seal the DTD. Any Keyblade of light or darkness would work. They were just the only ones available at the time. Also, people with hearts of light are not able to pass through the DTD.
Square just dropped a special Kingdom Hearts 25th anniversary video to celebrate the series and the new collection!

Its explained multiple times what the power of waking is meant to do. Even if u didn't pay attention, it's explained explained in the journal.
1. The power to wake sleeping hearts
2. Allows a person's to travel to a world strongly connected to a person's heart.
Replying to @aquashoe13
Lmao โkh isnโt confusingโ ask the average kh fan to explain why sora and riku are young in ddd or what the power of waking does in kh3
Fun KH lore for the day!
Mickey's Kingdom Key D and its upgraded form, the Star Cluster, are the only known Keyblades of darkness. They have the ability to open a pathway to the Realm of Darkness, and it is implied that the Star Cluster was created by fusing his two Keyblades.
If anyone is new, I also make Kingdom Hearts video explaining certain aspects of the lore!

Fun KH lore of the day!
The reason Xemnas took Xion after Axel brought her back was so he could give her a more powerful "body." She then used the three machines created to absorb the memories of the worlds Sora had visited to amplify her powers and the new "body" he gave her.
Yes and no, pure-blooded Heartless do release hearts when defeated with a Keyblade. The heart just isn't visible because it literally transformed into a Heartless. Emblem are made by a machine and have hearts trapped inside them. Think of them as cages that hold hearts captive.
