Proposition 1 can be called now. It is up by 22,000 votes, which doesn’t seem a lot, but of the remaining 150k ballots outstanding that means the No side would need to win 86,000 - 64,000.
Take the 40k+ from Alameda County that prop 1 wins by double digits off the table, and there’s only 110k left with a bigger Yes lead.
At that point the No side would have to beat Yes by nearly 2:1.
That’s not happening. This one is over. Prop 1 wins.

And @GarrySouth has it right again in George Skelton’s piece: “It’s difficult for any governor of the biggest state with more people than Canada to look in the mirror in the morning and not see a president staring back at you.”

That's a wrap for @johnmyers as he leaves his LA Times perch. Big loss for Capitol journalism. Last night's gathering on a sultry Sacramento night is like nothing I've seen in years. – at Fair Oaks, CA

Um, that’s Arnold circa 2010. Clearly not 2018. Alas, the lack of an edit button.
These buttons are coming with me as I clear out the office. How was the recall really 19 years ago?! (And that’s me bugging Schwarzenegger in 2018, alongside @Kevin1Riggs and others.)

Thanks to @KenCooley (who grabbed my phone to take this photo) for a final look at the governor’s press room, room 1190, as the 1952 annex building will soon be vacated for the big state Capitol reconstruction. That’s a few of us press in attendance back at the TV risers.
A return to my old haunts as @KenCooley conducts tour of the Capitol Annex scheduled for demolition, starting with 1190, scene of countless press briefings back to Reagan era.

Given some suggestion the Capitol press corps’ disappointment about not getting a final look at room 1190, technically the “governor’s briefing room,” was some kind of entitled tantrum… let me offer a quick thread to explain why that room has such meaning to some of us. 🧵
