Say her name #ReneeGood
Renee was one of my students years ago. I held her baby. She was kind and talented, a working class mom who put herself through school despite circumstances that would’ve crumpled the pathetic rich boy politicians who sadistically abetted her murder God damn them all

I'm in the middle of Celine Minard's "Plasmas". You could call it sci-fi, but only in the sense that it is dealing with times and places unknown or in the (speculative) future. It is a thousand times better written than typical sci fi. @DeepVellum

wsj.com/opinion/the-great-am… @KentWascom and I are chatting about PD James 'Children of Men,' a vision of a future without children, a long with his book 'The Great State of West Florida,' this evening as a part of a Lit before doomsday discussion. I think we will probably mention Never Let Me Go, Handmaids Tale, and A Friend of the Earth as well - all preludes to apocalypse.

Hey uhhhh any lit mags want to publish a short story from a guy with a book coming out soon
Have a good story (at least, I think so) available again - was accepted by a cool mag that had some stuff change, so it’s back in my hands. What lit mags are open that might like a good story?

"For real it could be like another bout of brain worms, me going autistic again, whereas the life I was building was good." Powerful, authentic piece. Keep your eye on this guy!

If you’re in the market for a horror movie essay today, then give yourself a TREAT and read this one I wrote about Weapons! Or just play a TRICK and tell me you read it anyway!
If you haven’t had enough of Weapons discourse or personal essays THEN MAY I SUGGEST my personal essay ON Weapons, up today @wigwagmag with three other tremendous movie essays. Link, as they say, below 👇

a.co/d/gghVeMo @KentWascom is onto something really fun in this book. The narrative is sort of an adolescent revolutionary fantasy, while at the same time it has fun with the desire of Americans to resist the boredom of poverty, painful family collapse, and "outside forces." I can't wait to talk to him about it.

The thing about Wuthering Heights is that it has one of the most beautiful paragraphs in all of English literature—and I don’t think any film adaptation, even a good one, can ever capture what I felt reading this for the first time:

If you send a book to The Dad Lit Pod and I want someone to read it, I will convince them to buy it, or I will buy them a copy. Kent kindly sent me the book on the left. I bought the book on the right for @WhatHoARat so we could do bookclub. Authors should get paid. Any book sent to me stays with me.
