Looks like you've been misinformed. The report on water usage was an opinion piece written by a Dutch Central Bank employee using "resource use per transaction" metric already discredited by Cambridge Uni.
Your writeup relies on 2-year old data which has since changed fundamentally.
Finally your article fails to take into consideration positive environmental extenalities of Bitcoin (like assessing the health of a business by only looking at its expenses, but not the revenue. ie: a fundamentally flawed methodology.
You may like to read the latest Cornell University Study on mining, read the latest Bloomberg intelligence report on how Bitcoin mining is now the most sustainably-powered industry on planet earth, read the well researched KPMG and IRM reports which are use contemporary data and support the positive ESG case for Bitcoin and then finally talk to some of the people within the Bitcoin mining sector.
I'm here too if you want to chat. I'm an environmentalist and climatetech investor who once held the same view you did before I did my deep-dive.
