Palm Springs Police Officers Lesley Zerebny, 27, and Jose "Gil" Vega, 63, were brutally gunned down in 2016 by John Hernandez Felix. Lesley had just returned to duty following maternity leave, having given birth to a daughter four months earlier. Vega was just months away from his retirement after nearly 30 years of service. A jury of his peers and a Riverside County judge convicted Felix and sentenced him to death. That’s how our justice system was supposed to work. Now, without even notifying victims’ families, Governor Newsom has commuted the death sentence for Felix and other evil violent criminals who juries and judges rightfully sentenced to death. That’s not justice for the victims. That’s not justice for Lesley and Gil.
The opening of the Freedom Bridge is a success story that resulted from working with Menifee city leaders to identify a funding need. Once I learned of it, I rolled up my sleeves and went to work in D.C. and secured the final $5 million to make the project a reality. I’ll always fight for my constituents!
We have the finest fighting force in the world because of the extraordinary men and women who serve in our military. That’s why I fought for and delivered a historic pay raise for our troops that was signed into law.
I’ve been proud to support March Air Reserve Base as it undergoes a $250 million infrastructure modernization project to prepare for the arrival of the KC-46A Pegasus tankers. I have and will continue to support March and the critical role it plays in our national security.
As a former small business owner and Chamber member, I was thrilled to join the Corona Chamber of Commerce's Legislative Action dinner last night. It’s not easy to own and operate a business anywhere, let alone here in California. That’s why it’s critical for small business owners and organizations, like the Chamber, to stay engaged in the policy making arena.
I visited Lake Elsinore this week to see how the city is utilizing innovative nanobubbler technology to increase oxygen levels at the lake's bottom, improving water quality. I secured $8 million to expand the project, which will improve the environment and the local economy.
My friend @hughhewitt is absolutely correct. I do have an amazing staff! I’m grateful to have one of the most experienced staffs in all of Congress, which means my constituents benefit from having advocates help them cut through the bureaucracy to get the results they need.
We can never return to the chaos at the border that we experienced during the Biden administration. We must keep our border secure.
I joined Lake Elsinore Mayor Bob Magee and other city officials this morning to tour the Lake Elsinore Water Quality Project. I worked together with the city to secure $8 million in Community Project Funding to support the project and expand the city’s substantial financial commitment to the Nanobubbler systems across the lake. The early phases of the projec have led to a cleaner, healthier lake, and I’m excited to work with the city to advance this important project.
