Making the case in the @nationalpost for why dismantling the Human Rights Tribunal is only the start of what is needed to restore a culture of free speech in British Columbia. Other priorities should include: 1. Passing a law similar to Alberta's Regulated Professions Neutrality Act to protect professionals from the over-zealous censorship of off-duty expression. 2. Repealing Bill 36, the Health Professions and Occupations Act, which has created a chilling environment on the speech of health professionals. 3. Root-and-branch renewal of our curriculum, which currently stifles heterodox perspectives and fails to encourage civil discourse amongst students. No more teaching an ideologically warped version of our history. nationalpost.com/opinion/kat…

My son is studying biochemistry at my alma mater, Redeemer University in Ancaster. It’s a small liberal arts university in Hamilton. He is currently unable to access OSAP. And his fellow students, many of whom rely on student loans for their education (as I did when I went to RU), are also struggling to pay bills, tuition, and living expenses because they counted on receiving OSAP. Students there have been receiving OSAP for over two decades. @nolanmquinn would you be so kind as to restore OSAP funding to schools like @RedeemerUniv ASAP? Thank you!!
BREAKING—OSAP has cut off Ontario private colleges and their students getting loans and grants, but students attending post secondary institutions in Gaza or Iran or in China are still eligible for their grants that are paid by Canadian taxpayers, but administered through Ontario

Cardus is hiring a director of faith community engagement—could this be the right role for you, or someone you know? We’re looking for an experienced relationship-builder who is energized by big ideas, constructive dialogue, and the role of faith in Canadian public life. You’ll build and strengthen a network of faith leaders across Christian denominations and other faith communities, and connect them with Cardus’s research, policy, and events. You’ll also be a public voice on faith, religion, and freedom of religion and conscience through op-eds, radio and television, and podcasts. This full-time role is based in our Hamilton or Ottawa office. English-French bilingualism is a significant asset. Applications are reviewed as they come in. A recent column in a Canadian newspaper argued that it was well past time for Canada to secularize its Catholic hospitals. Earlier this year, Cardus convened a Faith in Healthcare Symposium, celebrating the faithful people and institutions serving Canada for as long as nearly four centuries. "Many Canadians who enter a faith-based hospital do not share its beliefs. They still benefit from its trained staff, donors, volunteers, and ties to the surrounding community," noted @rpennings in @FaithTodayEFC. bit.ly/4ex3VAm

A billion dollars of your taxes fund the WRDSB, which uses that money to cancel Canada's first PM and hide gender transitions from parents. I'm running for WRDSB trustee for Waterloo-Wilmot to restore academic excellence with transparency, free thought, and open dialogue.

❓Why are student wellbeing and academic achievement often treated as opposing priorities? For example, there's the idea that we should eliminate or reduce tests because they cause students stress. What about the sense of accomplishment someone can feel from working hard towards a goal and achieving that? Doesn't academic success actually contribute to student wellbeing? Great quote from this article by Montse Gomendio: "operating on the notion that equity and student wellbeing can and should be achieved at the expense of academic performance will hurt future generations, who will suffer dire consequences" She argues that policies implemented during COVID that reduced academic rigour made struggling education systems worse. In some countries, these policies (like relaxing exam requirements and making it easier to graduate) became the new normal after COVID. educationnext.org/how-viral-…

CBC’s Marketplace has delivered another hack job on food inflation. In my view, it is one of the worst shows on television right now. This week’s segment featured two economists whose opinions fit the program’s narrative, without presenting the data, peer-reviewed research or modelling needed to substantiate their claims. Years ago, when I was pre-interviewed for the show, I felt they were fishing for one or two specific sound bites to convince Canadians that ALL businesses are greedy and utterly unethical. A balanced discussion did not seem to be the objective. This week’s coverage left me with the same impression. Expert commentary should be challenged and supported by evidence, especially on a taxpayer-funded program. Instead, CBC's Marketplace too often presents opinions as conclusions and leaves viewers with an incomplete understanding of complex issues. I no longer respond to their interview requests. Canadians deserve rigorous journalism, transparent evidence and a fair discussion. I find this kind of coverage disgusting.

Standing on the shores of the Sea of Galilee this morning! 🌊🇮🇱 These are the very waters where Jesus calmed the most violent storms with just three words: “PEACE, BE STILL!” The same Jesus who commanded the wind and waves 2,000 years ago still has authority over every storm we face today! The storm doesn’t get the final word. JESUS DOES! 🙌🏼🔥
